Do you have any part numbers for the bob cams? I took some cams out of a boa but I'm not sure if they are bob cams or not? Would say the easy way to tell is whether they have cam sensor lobes on the nearside heads camshafts. But the BOA cams in mine have the anyway to confuse matters Best way to find out is with verniers and measure the camshaft lobes themselves. BOA has 9mm lift and BOB is 9.5mm I believe

There aren't really any part numbers on them, just casting numbers - and they're the same for both the BOA and BOB cams. Helpful that. It's just the grind that's different. One way to tell is to measure the cam's lift - the BOB has 0.5mm higher lift than the BOA from memory. The other way to tell is to look for the cam sensor lobes - BOB cams 3 and 4 (cylinders 4,5,6) have the extra lobes just behind front cam bearing before first cam lobe, cams 1 and 2 don't have any sensor lobes. BOA cams have no lobes at all. Hope that helps
Edit* just read the above, it din't show up when I wrote this in the first place for some reason. I'd swear these engines are wilfully obtuse sometimes! I thought the cam sensor lobes were a good check, just as I thought that all BOBs had the stronger rods, but once again, I stand corrected!

already have the bearing girdle in mine, been there for 30k now at a guess. Wasn't too difficult to make up really, the wort part was getting the main cap bolts from someone. Turned out that someone on Fordpower had some to sell so that was sorted Some 10mm steel plate was chopped up and drilled, Dave welded on the baffles and voila Just ask mr on here about the sump gasket fiasco at the time this was done

So have you raised the red line then? Does the noise just keep getting better?! It's limiter is at 6200rpm, power started to tail off around 5700 so not much point revving higher when it was mapped It's quite addictive to rev to the limit, but not much fun as redline in 2nd is about 80mph

Of course, you've still got the auto box. Mine's got the back axle from a 1.6 capri, so it tops out at about 120ish, but gets there really rather rapidly. Second's not much good for much more than half of what yours is, so I see (and more importantly hear) the red line fairly often I read through this again this morning, but I didn't notice the map from when you'd had Emerald installed, although that my be due to how fuzzy my head feels this morning... I'll be interested to compare the difference that the inlet fanimold makes to the top end, as a lot of the power graphs I've seen on Fordpower etc seem to have a fairly straight power graph. Did you see/feel much difference when you put the tubular manifolds on? I've got a pair of lovely stage one stainless ones (That I managed to get for £100!) that I'd like to fit, but they look like they'll be a massive PITA to shoehorn in with the steering linkage etc. The Capri's got a bit less room than the granny by the looks of things! Those baffles on the girdle are a good idea, I'll have to have a look at doing something similar on mine.

I thought I uploaded the power run graph from the emerald mapping with the videos from there as well. The first one says 1.9 instead of 2.9 though The tubular manifolds didnt necessarily make it quicker, but it certainly made it smoother and a lot less "cammy" at 3500rpm and had the added benefit of making it a lot less drone whilst on the motorway. And both tubular manifolds weigh less than one old cast one too The drivers side one is made as 3 primaries with a 3into1 collector that slips on, as 2 primaries go between engine and steering shaft, and the 3rd goes out and round the steering shaft

just for reference and the fact its now posted twice in this thread, the dyno printout from the mapping session at Track n Road And also one of the original pistons versus a +1mm wossner piston Those were purchased as 2 sets of 4, as that was the cheaper option instead of just 6 Also have a set of Farndon H section rods in there as well, but didn't get any pictures of those it would appear Although you can see the bottoms of them attached to the crankshaft in the pics of the girdle. The engine itself has done almost 80k miles since it was rebuilt and installed in the Granny, so it will be due to strip down and check over some point soon I guess

in my defence it was robs idea................although I may have been a little unclear as to exactly how much oil was in the carpet if I'm honest. the pool in the car filled the front and rear drivers side foot wells. that said,i almost felt bad sitting outside the launderette with the whole floor carpet wrapped in bin bags waiting for everyone to leave. a quick charge into the place, rammed the entire carpet into the biggest washing machine there and half a big box of powder added and it was too late to stop. within seconds the water was an interesting shade of "what the ####?" and a casual "I got away with that " swagger out of the place for 30 minutes while the program ran. got odd looks when I pulled the carpet back out the machine and layed it on the floor to examine it but all was fixed by then so who cares. worth all of the £3 it cost me .still looks ok even now .

Currently en route home with the wagon on the back of a recovery wagon, so I can spend some of my time between now and when it gets painted reassembling or sorting out odds and ends

Happy new year everyone! Made it home without any fuss, even though just as leaving Daves workshop my brother asked what holds the windscreen in as there was no rear screen and we had the wagon loaded facing backwards Shall upload some pics in a while, as today I'm spending at home tidying up and clearing out the interior and going to put a lick of paint on the interior bits so that the insides can possibly go back together a bit

Turns out I lied on page 11 about the wet and dry paper I used. The first attempt on the end cap was only up to 5000grit and not 7000 This is with the 7000 and then a hand polish with Autosol Shine however (on the left, the right one is only 5000) And I also made a start on the inlet manifold itself before Christmas as well

WOW this is awesome , my hat is off to you , i cant believe I'm only seeing this thread now and ive spent most of today reading through every inch of it , epic stuff , i now know what i have in front of me when i tackle my old girl , i got the fright of my life the other day when i got under it and seen how badly she was gone in the sills and rear inner arches . frightening stuff but now i know it can be done , might tackle it soon .
