I have a Cosworth engine I'm thinking to sell. If it's worth peanuts I might as well keep it but would like the opinion of others just to see.
I don't know much about it really, it apparently came out of a smashed sapphire years ago. It has been stripped and bores honed, new rings, shells etc. To what standard I have no idea so would really need stripped and checked. The bores were good i've been told. Pretty sure the valves have been ground in and new seals but again can not clarify this. It has a turbo which has quite a but of play in the shaft. There is no timing belt or tensioner and no belt covers. It has a flywheel and dizzy.
So basically an engine with a few bits missing needing stripped and checked. Will try and stick on a coulpe of pics later.
Thoughts please...
Cheers.
Just remembered there is a loom with it but no ecu.

Had a look at the engine and theres more than I thought. Inlet manifold with injectors exhaust downpipe, good clutch. Cams look to be good with little/no wear on the lobes. I also found the ecu for it. The turbo actually has very little play in the shaft. So a more or less complete set up less gearbox and a couple of bits needing stripped and checked it's been put together properly. Think it's worth £500? If I do end up breaking it i'll give you a shout dannymac. Cheers Peter.

Wow! Worth a lot more than I expected then! Think in that case I will sell it. Also found an intercooler, not sure if it's a cosworth one or not... The engine was originally intended for my 3 door Cosworth but I'm going for a V6 turbo technics instead, really need to try and recoup some of the cash I've been spending recently! Not sure about ebay though, seems to be full of timewasters and their charges are a rip off, but probably the best place to get the most for it...

Whack it up on Passionfords - Make sure you know what you want before hand - not sure if any are on eBay now..

It's a 2wd motor and £800 is a fair offer, yes you could do a grand on eBay but there's so many time wasters it's unreal. Will make more in bits but again it's the hassle of stripping it down plus as its never been run you can guarantee the condition of the bits either. The turbo has an updated actuator on it,turbo worth £150 after a little clean. There's a measurement for the head (I forget it exactly but it's about 156mm) and that determines whether it can be skimmed any further or not, same with the crank and this hugely affects prices. Passionford will be your best bet to sell it if you haven't already as the lads on there are genuine boys bar a few bad apples. Looms about £50 as well.

i would get the sizes of the bores and crank before advertising as it makes a huge difference to price depending on how many builds its had before

Hello
Sorry I have now decided to keep the engine. I had it on ebay twice and got f#cked over both times by complete timewasters who wouldn't pay, then ebay charged me the final value fee twice (50 quid a time) and what a job I had getting the money back from ebay trying to explain to a foreigner that I hadn't received any money from the tossers who bought it.
Sorry about the rant but I was so p#ssed off with the whole thing I decided it was more hassle than it's worth selling it so I might as well keep ahold of it, rebuild it myself and stick it in something some day.
Thanks for the offers though...
Peter.

I know, it's the timewasters who really p#ss me off, and ebay seems to be full of them. If they win an auction and don't pay for it they don't get penalised. The seller isn't even able to leave negative feedback any more, whats that about??? And if you leave abusive feedback saying how much of a tosser somebody is ebay remove the comment. It's pathetic.
I will continue to buy bits and pieces off ebay but NEVER will I ever sell anything on there ever again.
