We've all seen cars re-advertised due to timewasters but what happens if the seller is the timewaster... heres how I spent yesterday.
I had placed an ad 3-4 months ago in a free ads paper looking for a Fiat 850 for spares. This chap rang with one that was very cheap, basically he had bought 4 new tyres for it and wanted the price of them back. I arranged to collect the car on a Saturday afternoon as he was a taxi driver working late shifts. When I rang him on Friday to confirm I was travelling to get the car on Sat. he said he was also a part-time driving instructor with lessons booked from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm. He agreed to cancel some of his lessons and I agreed to leave a lot earlier than planned. I left yesterday morning at 6.30 am for a 3.1/2 trip to meet this guy . He was late as he had to collect keys for the lock-up, turns out the keys were in a mates car 40 miles away, ok.. He went to find the owner of the lock-up for a spare set of keys saying " he's always around", he wasn't.. He then told me his mate was returning and he would meet him and collect the keys.."20 minutes". After 2 hours and 15 minutes waiting ,I rang the guy to be told he was 20 minutes away. At this stage I pointed out I didn't want the car anymore and left . I got home at 5.00 pm. AAAAARRRGGGHHH!!! feel better now.
