I am wondering whether anyone would be interested in displaying their car as an individual entry at the annual Historic Vehicle Gathering, which takes place at Powderham Castle, Kenton, near Exeter on the 7th and 8th July?
Last year we had a special display for 'Modern Classics' covering the period 1980 - 1992. This was to show that the term 'classic' did not end in 1980 but has continued beyond that, with a number of cars from this era being classic cars. Also, it is to show the appeal of owning a car from this era, the affordability of some of them and also the fact they appeal to younger buyers.
Amongst the local cars we had last year were a very nice Saab 900 T16S convertible in white, a 1985 Audi Quattro in red, 1981 Volkswagen Golf and Scirroco, 1990 MG Maestro 2.0i and MG Montego 2.0i, a 1982 Ford Escort XR3, 1987 Toyota MR2 and a similar age Peugeot 205 CTi.
This year we are looking to expand the display to a maximum of 20 - 25 cars covering a similar period. To date we are well represented by Audi and the Toyota MR2, and currently have one example of the MG Maestro 2.0i and Volvo 240 GL saloon confirmed.
We are looking for cars ranging from small hatchbacks such as the Citroen Visa, Talbot Samba or Fiat Strada, medium-sized saloons such as the Ford Sierra or Vauxhall Cavalier, hot-hatches, executive saloons such as the Alfa Romeo 164, sports coupes such as Opel Manta, Ford Capri, Mitsubishi Starion or Honda CRX and even a small SUV such as the Suzuki SJ410.
More details about the event can be found at www.cbccc.net and following the link for the 'Powderham Classic Car Show'. Or alternatively, please feel free to send me a private message for further information.
The closing date for entries is Sunday, 13th May.
I hope this is of interest.
