The factory intake on this was so restrictive and turbulent, and it just made no sense whatsoever!! This is the air intake from factory. The filter box is held on the back of the block! Yes, the first mod (other than the air intake and stereo) was the air horn! I had it laying around so figured I'd fit it. I've changed the set up a bit now though anyways, having kept the normal horns connected as well so it has a dual tone effect, and only running one trumpet too, now infront of the rad. I am going to see about getting a second compressor though to run into the single trumpet to help increase the volume that bit more To be honest Diabolu, when you'd seen it on eBay, I'd probably already arranged to go and buy it from the guy. I spotted it within the first hour or two of it being up there, and in the morning the next day I put the offer in. I didn't hang around cos I knew there'd be a lot of people looking at it at that price!

Went up through the wing into the resonator box, out of there, along behind the block into the panel filter box, and out at the bottom, then did a U-bend and went into the throttle body. It was insanely long, and there was a noticeable lag between putting your foot down and it picking up properly as the air had to travel so far! New component speakers are in the front doors. Got one done today, going to get the other side done tomorrow. JBL 508C's. From what I can hear from the one side that's done, they sound awesome!!

Been playing again today, and got some bass in there now! 12" JBL power series sub and a JBL GTO 1004 amp bridged to 3 channels to power the sub and the components up front. And I redid the air horns too, so now only got one trumpet so I'm getting all the air through the one now, rather than splitting valuable psi between 2 trumpets.

Agreed! ^^ the intake system was designed like that for a reason. Induction kits have their place but nine times out of ten the object is defeated because they are not properly installed and they just draw in hot and undirected air. IMO. I love the Hondas of this period, they have such an honesty about them! If this was mine, every improvement would be absolutely stealth! It makes me sad to see those poor doors with holes cut in them for the components! Absolutely cracking car though! Very rare too

The induction kit system isn't finished off yet, there's still some work to be done to shield it from hot air and to get a cold air feed going to it too.
As for the components, one of my friends who owns two of these didn't even notice the tweeters cut into the doors till I pointed them out to him, so I guess that they don't look out of place.
I still have to finish off the trunk install, as it's going to be made so it fits perfectly around the edges on the sides, and hides the amp at the back too. Plus I have to sort out the carpet trimming so that when the seats are folded down, the carpet on the back of the seats looks clean and tidy when matching in with the carpeting used in the build. I may retrim the carpeting on the back of the seats in black with enough on the end to join in nicely.

Well I've been busy today and dropped it. Coil over kit on the front, and 3 coils chopped out the rear, and this is the result! And it got some really nice camber on the front end too!!

Cheers. The chopped springs are fine (once I got them sat in the cups alright!!) but the fronts on the coilover kit are rattling like hell and the front is very bouncy, but that'll all get sorted once I take some more slack out of the springs by raising the cups up another turn or so.

I am also toying with the idea of a colour change, as at some point I'll see about getting what rust there is on the bodywork sorted out, and figured I may as well get a colour change done too. Couple of quick photoshops here of the plans.

I started out at 16 repairing crashed cars for a Honda approved coachworks, enjoyed working on this period of Hondas and always loved these in particular - thought i'd have one myself one day. But i ended up going VW, even if i did stick with the '80s.. I don't like, well, anything you've done to it tbh, but then i'm not the one who bought it and kept it on the road, so i can't complain.. What i can do is appreciate your taste, understand the appeal and hope you enjoy it - that's what it's for! These are a rare sight, which is a shame, but even with the personal touch it's always nice to see one
