The previous owner owned this car since 10/10/2002,Not long after he purchased this car the cam belt broke and had to replace the cylinder head, valves, camshaft etc. About 4 years ago he replaced the 6 speed gearbox with a reconditioned unit. The car has been off the road for a couple of years - until last December when he decided to use her again. He replaced the lower suspension arms for the Mot and fitted a new alternator. The car was in use until February when suddenly the glow plug light stayed on,the engine lost power and started emitting blue smoke from the exhaust. Was told that the problem is probably due to dirty injectors but in desperate need of transport, purchased an old A6 to keep him on the road. I purchased the car with plans to sort it out, but circumstances have changed- do not have the time to sort out the problem so am selling the car as is. The body work is tidy - (the only small sign of rust is on the sunroof!) there are some small imperfections - which you would expect with a car of this age - and a small dent on the front of the bonnet. It would be a great shame to break this car as I am sure she has many miles left in her - (181,000 currently) and she is Mot ed till next December! However there are many good parts ( including the almost new 6 speed gearbox) which could be re-used.
The (5 cylinder - ATT) engine starts and runs readily but has little power e.g. Has been plugged in and codes read..... Possibly the diesel pump needs retiming, dirty injectors or may even be a needle lift injector problem
