Hi All New to the forum and got a new (old) toy, she's a 68 singer vogue estate. its pretty much bog standard and reasonably solid apart from a few little patches of rot. Its running a 1725 with a stage 1 cam and an alloy sump and rocker cover, runs well and seems to go pretty nice with the 4 speed overdrive box I'm getting 30+ to the gallon. I would like to do a few mods to her but nothing irreversible as the car has a great history as it is. I'm thinking wheels, lowered, sunvisor, roof rack (a decent usable one) cherry bomb pipe or similar and change the front grill as the standard one is a bit naff! this is the car (an old pic I found on the net) 4.bp.blogspot.com/-jjVyaRQEm04/Trmt7cSPI8I/AAAAAAAAEFg/d-gKrBoMRas/s1600/5474103691_c1ed23582f_b.jpg

Thanks Dave /\ Welcome stoney, a Vogue Estate must be a rare thing indeed! Looks pretty tidy in that photo. What's the history? The thread on my car covers most things and would save me typing it again. retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=37503You could probably fit any rectangular headlight grille in there if you wanted too, though I think there were two different sizes of headlights used.

Looks great mate, and 30 to the gallon's not to be sniffed at either. Get it in the weeds, and a tasty wheel and tyre combo, and it's a winner

Ah so you've bought it then, did you see it at Manningtree?, I was chatting to the chap at a boot sale about it recently, He's owned it since it was 3 years old, the orginial owner was the daughter of Prentice Aircraft & Cars Rootes dealer on Felixstowe Road in Ipswich. It's now covered 184000 miles with out being restored, the engine had a stage 1 cam and a few other goodies fitted, the hole in the roof is from the CB aerial he fitted in the late 70's. May I be rude to ask what you paid for it as he told me a price and I wondered if it was the same. Here's a stack of photos of it. 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate in Ipswich by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate in Ipswich by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Singer Vogue 1725 Estate in Ipswich by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr

Hi All
The Guy I bought it off has had it for the last 40 years as his daily driver, its never been off the road! He is a mechanic and so was his father and brother who both happened to work for rootes so the car came with plenty of spares and loads of paperwork etc.
Was nice talking to him about how when he first got it he was my age (26) and spent a bit of money on the stage one cam and alloy bits and raced it around, then as he got older he bought a caravan and fitted a towbar, then a cb radio was fitted to keep the kids entertained, in the 80's at 100,000 the engine was subject to a comprehensive rebuild and shes now showing 181,000.
Shes pretty tidy but does need a repair to one wheel arch and the bootlid. and a few other less pressing repairs!
Sorry pOG if I beat ya to it :s

Just thought I'd dig this one up... My dad nearly bought this about 8 months ago from a dealer in humberside. The body work was worse for wear and so he walked away. For example the hole in the boot was covered with a "G.B" sticker. Low and behold I watch a trailer on tv for "all gardens great and small " (on 4 extra I believe) and this car is transporting the host around. I hope it's more structurally sound now!!!
