I will try to ensure that most of the points here get covered in the driver/passenger safety briefing but just in case I thought it might be beneficial to put a few things down here so participants could get an idea of how it's going to work (and more importantly how we intend to improve on last year - we learnt a few things on the way and want to use that experience to improve this year. (One thing I learnt last year is that whatever "robr" drives has a cloaking de-cloacking facility and can get to the front of a queue by an almost teleportatiom approach and "Adam" was always in whatever queue we were looking at!!! how many runs was it Adam?)
Holding area (pit/queue area)
Same approach is intended for both morning and afternoon sessions
We have 4 lanes avaliable to us and it gives a max capacity of 60 cars in each session
When participants have purchased a session and got their car into the pit area they are required to complete driver (and passengers safety briefing) some people did this before they got the car in the pit/hold area last year some people after - no probs either way we have plenty of time to get it all done.
Last year we sold out the morning session before we even opened the track and pretty much had everyone thro the briefing too so no one lost any track time ;D
We intend to run each lane in turn one after another and so the drivers in each session need to come back to the same lane they started in after each run and again after any subsequent run.
Lane 1, Lane 2, Lane 3, Lane 4 then back to lane 1 again and so on till we run out of time (Lane 1 is closest to main road and Lane 2 & 3 are in the middle and Lane 4 is furthest from the main road)
The cars will also have a colour coded sticker with 0-60 denoting morning session and 61- 120 denoting afternnon session
We will sticker the cars up lane by lane in sequential number order so as the cars should fill back up their in their original running order as overtaking down the return access road isn't possible - however as car issues can happen if anyone drops out to check the car they can rejoin in their original group even if slightly out of sync without being unfair to anyone else.
If there are guest cars running they will join as last year whenever they are ready to run (tempermental race cars and all that don't like being asked to wait ages) - they will run G1 - G10 stickers and are valid for Morning and afternoon sessions
So driving infringements and penalties
Real simple cos I like simple
- Speeding down the return road - please don't there is a video camera that is monitored - it's also a public footpath and the public get upset if they have cars barrelling down on them and to be honest there is absolutely no point as you will join a Q ready for your next turn (use the return road to cool your brakes and engine )
- Driving outside your ability - easy to spot if you end up in the kitty litter not so hard if you don't but all the marshall posts radio feed back to the main control
Either of the above will earn you an extra sticker with a little red cross on it this is equivilent to your first chance You won't get many before you don't get any more runs - just so you know
The morning session stickers are different colour to the afternoon session (the wristbands are too) so we can tell instantly if anyone has decided to sneak a run in before lunch when they only paid for an afternoon session - we had a few of them last year!!!
Vicky verki for anyone who thinks the morning session gives a free pass for the afternoon - only had one person who tried that on last year....
Of course if you have purchased both sessions that's a little different.
Other points to bear in mind
1) Cars need to be MoT'd (and you need to bring proof!) *
2) Drivers need to show their drivers license and insurace cert.
3) There is a noise limit - this is 102db (no-one tripped it last year but lets not forget there is one)
4) You ARE able to take a passenger.
5) Helmets are NOT required (actively discouraged except in certain circumstances).
6) If originally factory fitted, seat belts MUST be worn.
7) Slick tyres are NOT permitted.
8) Your run WILL NOT be timed.
9) The Track Attack is run in two sessions. 10am-1pm and 2pm-close.
10) Morning session runs 10am - 1pm and is £30 FOR THE SESSION
11) Afternoon session is 2pm-4pm and is £20 FOR THE SESSION
Note - For your £30 or £20 you will have unlimited runs during that session (we will try to get you as many runs as we can)
12) There is a maximum of 60 cars in each session. (plus a few guet cars)
13) Drivers and passengers WILL need to sign a disclaimer.
14) Drivers DO need to attend a Drivers Briefing.
15) You may only drive YOUR car, that YOU have presented the MoT for
16) There is NO intention of pre-selling any of the Hill Climb sessions. (see gates open for selling times)
*if you have a racecar (and therefore no Mot) and want to run it up the Hill please send Keefy or Hotwire an email or PM
Gates open to the public at 9am, and we'll probably let people with weekend tickets on club stands in before then.
Therefore we'll open the signing on office early too. At some point between 8 an 8:30am I suspect.
Its first come, first served - available from the signing on office in the paddock.
Like last year only cars that are parked in Retro Parking, or situated on a club stand, will be able to run up the Hill.
Any questions just shout and lest see if there is anything Rob "judgie" or myself have missed thinking about
