I was, as you gents say "made redundant" from the job i had held for the last 11 years. No more millwrighting for me. I was however quickly offered a job by a fellow I have done a lot of work for in his restoration shop. I accepted very quickly. Day one went well as far as I can tell. I am comfortable there. Give me a day or two to get my sea legs and I think I can excel. The view out front. Series one E-type, Alfa Vintage racer under cover, A series two jag?, Fiat 600 and an Abarth Alemano. Whats inside? Why a Lancia Fulvia Zagato of course. Like those Zagatos? Here is two more! Two 750 Abarth double bubbles! The blue one is probably my favorite car ever. Red interior on that one. But what did I have to work on? This ugly turd of a 32 Rolls Royce. I honestly don't see the appeal in this type of car. I am however kind of drawn to, yet repelled by the silly amount over complication involved. This thing must have miles of linkage under the hood to operate the timing advance, governor and carb fiddly bits. It also has a central lube system for every suspension pivot that I am sure will fail or leak when I have to get it working properly. Day one under the belt. I like it here. It really feels like home.

Fantastic, well done on the new job! I think I worked on a similar rolls royce a while back, does it have a double redundancy ignition system, with a mag and dizzy? I know what the linkages are like

EDIT to add that I would genuinely love to drive something like that Royce - manual control of the ignition and massive over-engineering of everything really appeals. With lots of brass linkages and black enamelled bits. I love stuff like that

The severance package from the old job covers me for 3 months so for the time being it is like having two incomes again. Is that an American body on the Rolls? From what I understand at that time it was quite common to purchase rolling chassis from RR and have the coach builder of your choice build the body for you. There is a plate inside with the name of that coachworks but I can't remember it right now. The car is from england. It is right hand drive and still sports the UK plates. Today was spent making new steel brake caliper lines and working on the electric hatch motor for the alloy bodied 1.3 Lancia Fulvia Zagato. I am already getting attached to that car. I really like it. Before I had seen one in person I thought they were ugly. Now I love it.

Fulvia Zagato are lovely quirky with those bizarre headlight trims, there was always Lancias own coupe with saggy/smiley frt bumper for those who didn't appreciate Zagatos taste. There's a lovely Salmon pink/orange one in the Lancia club here.

This looks like an awesome job, and I'm very glad you're the one who got it. The work you do on your Fiat is just outstanding, and congrats on getting yourself out of a really bad situation (not just talking about the redundancy ). Keep us posted and moar pics please!
