It has been a few weeks. I am comfortable at the new place. If I can actually start reassembling things that I personally have taken apart then I will speed way up.
I like this pic. It shows the variety I have to fettle with.
Series one E-Type, Fiat Abarth and a 34 Packard. What a combo.
I have to say I didn't enjoy my time with the Rolls Royces. If they hadn't been Barker bodied Limos then I might have liked them better. They were built like furniture with some tin nailed to them. The seating was non adjustable and clearly designed for a driver of 5 foot 2. Steering effort was Herculean, power delivery above 40mph was minimal and the driving experience was more effort than pleasure. Dear lord there is no worse feeling than a properly adjusted set of prewar Rolls linkage brakes. Yikes!
In contrast the Roller's american contemporary was a delight.
This 34 Packard 12 was gorgeous. The only wood in it's construction was the dash, around the window frames and the trunk floor. It drove almost like a modern car, the hydraulic brakes felt great and with 160hp on tap it could cruise all day long. Plus that counterflow flathead V-12 is probably the best looking motor I have ever seen.
That motor looked to have grown another 4 pistons when it made its way into this Cadillac V-16
This 67 Fiat 600 was an easy job for me.
I know my way around a rear engine Fiat pretty well.
I was able to install one of the alternator brackets I designed to rid the owner of the old generator. A few other tweaks and it is running much better than it came in.
Couldn't resist a photo op with both rear engine sedans
This MK2 is pretty nice as well.
Just finishing up some stuff and it will be back on the road with new everything.
And this E-type has sat for 25 years so needs a full hydraulic and fuel system rebuild before it goes back on the road.
An Alfa 1600 Sprint I am rebuilding the gearbox for.
And then yesterday this happened. My boss said "Trent, I need you to do me a favor. We are delivering this Zagato saturday and I need you to drive it for a few hours to make sure everything is good to go."
"Yes Sir!!!!"
Dat ass!
So I was paid to pilot this car that is worth more than my house.
You do not get into a double bubble. You put the car on like an article of clothing. As if iron mans suit was a classy designer italian aluminum suit. Shifting your weight in the seat mid corner will change the way the car reacts. It was magical. I want one yet could never afford one.
So that is the job update.
I really like my new job.
