.... that is, it gets better by the year, not its turning into vinegar
After much messing about getting the Whale ready, it was with great relief when we set off on Friday.
That is my only pic from Friday, I was too busy setting up camp/buying and consuming booze.
Saturday started with a mid-morning rumble to the local scrapyard, something that I'll do a thread for soon as its great yard full of treasure.
After spending £20 to do a 15mile (tops) round trip we made it back to the campsite, with more beer and all day to drink it
It was still damp underfoot, as proved when I tried to move the Whale which resulted in this...
Open diff then, yeah?
Kev felt it necessary to modify the badging to the rear of Ryans Veg-express.
Proof (if it were needed) that Bruce has 'the eye'
Spent a good bit of time talking to Mark, I didn't realise that the engine in the Escort was such an animal. The colour is MEGA as is the prep and finish. Huge kudos for running it up the hill (multiple times) and not holding back either.
Glancing back towards the Whale
Oh, whats that?
and another
At around this time it became apparent that the only course of action was to seriously modify Kevs Prairie to make a more effective track-slag.
Hole too small for intended purpose
Lets make it bigger
A couple of shots from around the campsite before it got dark and I got drunk
Then suddenly it was Sunday morning, I popped out for juice and a real coffee before this happened on the roads outside
I don't know how I missed the rolling of B5 GSE earlier in the year, sad that this was its last outing
UR Quattro Sport was only used 3/10ths all day, a spot disappointing for everyone that had spotted it in the paddock. Still a hell of a machine to be able to witness tackling the hill.
As gorgeous as this is, it wasn't running right at all. Fouling up the plugs as its setup to run wide open on fast tracks
This, however, ran hard and fast all day. Sounds like thunder too
But not asmuch like thunder as this impressive bit of machinary
I managed to blag myself a passanger ride up the hill in Marks foxbody too. Very capable machine, that handled better than Mark was expecting
waiting patiently
for the LOLZ
The healey of Doom sounded glorious
I didn't spend nearly enough time walking around the show itself so I missed much of what was on display
LoxLee, your Capri is fully awesome. The new wheels work well I thought.
Not the twincam I was expecting. I'm guessing thats a Zetec with a dressup kit?
Little bit of Kev
Humber WoodieRod was of-its-era. In a very good way.
I clocked this on the campsite. Twas shweet.
Simply goregous is how I'd describe this
This 100e looked mean as hell. Well used and abused and very cool with it.
Merc trims and caps seem to suit just about anything
Chuff me, a Tercel!!
Air-ride Esprit is too cool for its own good
Loved this Olds, possibly more than Pols'
Best factory paint evAH?
Little and Large, almost comically so.
Dodge was pretty darn cool
I want the Whale to sound like this Monarch
'Papped'
I got driven around site by Mr From Wales
#69 resting in the shade
'L' series powered Amazon was novel
Mk1 with an LET heart was incredibly fast. Very impressive.
As was this Kitten
I only managed a few shots from up the hill, spent more time chewin' the fat.
too quick for me
And it was about this time I decided I needed to pack up the camping gear and think about making a move homewards.
It was a simply awesome weekend, again, I didn't get around/see/speak to everyone and everything but I wouldn't change a minute of it.
I do however think Ive been seriously 'out-camera'd' as my old point an shoot seems to be taking darker and darker shots as years roll by.
Anyway, Roll on RRG'13 at Prescott.
