Below is my Ocean Blue 1.9 GLD 305 van which I bought off of my dad in May for £400 after it's been in the family for 21 years. Still on the original clutch and gearbox, runs sweet and fires first time every time. Plans are to replace the shot springs, shocks, track rod ends and wheel bearings, weld the few holes it has, respray in Cossack Grey and re-do the interior (new carpets, recover seats, hinge floor over rear footwell, more modern audio) then look into putting a 2.1TD from a Xantia or 405 with my Bosch pump to run on chip fat. So far ive bought my shocks, track rod ends and bearings, replaced the rear lights (one was shot) I'm trying to source some springs which isnt going well. however i've found a company in sheffield who will make them so just need to get a quote and i'm waiting for my mate to give me a quote on the welding (i only have an arc welder) As it was when i bought it: Discovering the corrosion and general problems: The block has a minor oil leak which whilst not causing any issues means the bay is caked. Suspension which has never been replaced: Slight rust hole on the rear screen seal: Rear bumper rust holes: Usual rust hot spots: Minor hole in the boot by the seal, both rear arches need patching, both front wings need patching possibly replacing. Our MOT tester decided to put large white as on everything thats an advisory and green paint on everything that needs replacing: There is a lot of wasted space under the floor which covers the rear footwell/seat recess: Original optional speakers: Tweed i got for the interior: Whilst waiting for some other parts i got the vinyl out:

Cheers guys. Very cool, all that space under the seat is obviously for a big stereo Look forward to updates and to see how this turns out. I think ive worked out how I can do what ive got in mind without a load of panel buzz but that can wait for now Nice project a real rare sight now in the UK look forward to seeing some progress with it and the engine conversion too. 33 305 GLDs registered in the UK apparently. No idea how many are vans mind. There is one quirk with this though. Which is the chassis and engine numbers match with those the DVLA have but if I try and use the chassis one to find any parts it comes back as a 504. Your dad made you give him £400 for it?! Cheers dad! Good luck with the conversion, I'll be keeping a eye on this one, I'm also loving the drivers door mirror too! He was debating whether he wanted anything for it at all. I offered him £1k as I didn't want it for nothing. He thought it was in a worse state than it is. ah yes the Evostick glued drivers mirror, courtesy of someone smashing the original (which was also completely different to the passenger one). I'm lead to believe I can use 205 diesel springs for the front suspension. however i'd rather not have to spend the money and then find I was wrong. The rear torsion springs are a complete pain in the backside though. As many people have never heard of them and all the parts suppliers i've tried who have them advertised have subsequently found they're not in stock.

Just a little update. Been a bit slow over the summer due to doing some redecorating and now being back at uni. However I've now acquired my front wings (found a pair on eBay for £60 a piece) and stocked up on deoxidisation treatments.
A friend has agreed to do my welding for me but has suggested finding some rear arches that are a similar shape and making them fit. Currently i'm not having much luck with this so wondered if any of you have any ideas as to something suitable for a donor?
Once i've acquired those i can get my springs sorted and then start salvaging some of the other parts as well as removing and replacing the knackered bolts holding everything together.

Just another little update seen as its been a while. Not done much really due to finishing uni, the weather, family and financial issues but after talking with Dean Hunter of peugeotparts.co.uk I finally got hold of my other wing and a set of rear springs. Since my last update I've also acquired a fully refurbished set of Brembos from a 406 with a set of 283mm discs and Mintex Xtreme pads so I can solve the issue of the sticking front calliper but improve the breaking whilst at it. Will fit a set of braided hoses and renew the rear drums whilst I'm at it too. So now I can start on replacing the tired suspension, rust removal and prevention undersealing and painting of the underside. Then going to remove the front wings so I can see what damage there is hidden before rust treating and prepping those for paint. Also going to remove the bumpers so I can patch the holes n the rear and get those painted and ready to go back on. then its a case of rust treat and weld the holes in the rear arches, then prep for paint so can get the van resprayed. As my mum is retrimming the interior for me (she fancied giving it a go and is better with a sewing machine than myself) I will lift the carpet and see what damage is obscured by that before ripping out the dash so I can do an led dash conversion and adapt my wiring for a stereo relocation. Then can remove the engine to solve the leak from the end of the cam and get the whole van resprayed. The full list is now drawn up properly of what needs doing and what I want doing it might be a long project.

Cool van, always liked the "angry eyes" on these old peugeots. I pass one up the road a lot, same colour as yours too. Glad you're getting stuck into it now, hope it goes to plan. Now, what about some wheels.............

Nice one on the progress front with sourcing the front wings and springs. These things sometimes take longer than we like. It the same with my motors with things like money/ family / work etc getting in the way. Keep at it mate your have a real one off when it's done.

Cool van, always liked the "angry eyes" on these old peugeots. I pass one up the road a lot, same colour as yours too. Glad you're getting stuck into it now, hope it goes to plan. Now, what about some wheels............. I love old peugeots full stop, contemplated swapping my daily for a 309 although better judgement prevails at the moment. Ive never come across another in this colour and out of the 6ish that used to be around near me i now know of 1 possibly 2 vans and an estate. Just got myself a new job too so this should help quite a bit on the money front. Ive temporarily got a set of league 16" alloys on as I'm refurbishing the standard steels to sell. Then my wheel options are a set of 15x7" Bullet steels redrilled or a set of 15" steels banded to 7" wide with original center caps (they're like the Rallye ones) Its a tough choice at the minute. Nice one on the progress front with sourcing the front wings and springs. These things sometimes take longer than we like. It the same with my motors with things like money/ family / work etc getting in the way. Keep at it mate your have a real one off when it's done. I've begun to realise this. The biggest issue I'm having though is people claiming they have the parts, buying them and then finding they don't have and cant get them. eBay is b far the worst for that though.

Another update. as the van has now been sitting since may last year, decided to do some rust inspection pre-welding/fitting my new panels. To my surprise, much better then i expected. Rear arches will need welding but aren't too bad, drivers side rear quarter needs a nasty dent and rip repairing (should have seen what happened to the astra that hit it!!), hole the size of a fist in the drivers side inner front wing, bonnet catch isn't really held onto the bonnet and he front tow eye isn't really held on by anything. All relatively easily resolved though. As for the mechanicals, new bushes but thanks to a leaky cam seal covering most of the front end in oil , the mechanicals haven't had chance to rust. Also decided to test fit my Brembos, but think the clearance left on the hub for wheel mounting could be better, offset is now curse word due to the wrong discs and calliper bolts need either cutting and rethreading or replacing. see pics: Standard vs 283x26mm gti180 disc space for wheel mounting: Caliper size difference: So getting Tarox g88 288x28mm Xantia discs, 205 gti 1.9 hubs and bearings (would have to tap current hubs for disc bolts anyway), braided hoses, new calliper bolts and will then have to look into upgrading the rear brake setup and master cylinder too. As rear drums doesn't seem the most sensible pairing to these fronts. also decided to replace most of the front end whilst I'm at it just to be sensible. So new 22mm arb and powerflex bushes (I'm led to believe i can use either a 205/309 or 405), new track rods, 405 front drop links, adjustable top mounts. Trying to find out if 205/309 or 405 front upper and lower strut braces fit as well just to tighten everything a bit more. As for engine and the rest: booked a week off in july so going to rip out as much of the bay as possible and the dash ready to get it painted. Replace the xud9 cam seal and do an led conversion on the dash so i can make it nice and MOT friendly whilst i source a good xud11. I had hoped to fit the DK5ATE from an XM or 605 but they are rare as the proverbial poor quality wobbly children's play pony anal produce. So instead decided to stick with the original xud11 idea and see about potentially boring out to fit 2.2 hdi pistons Oh and seriously avoid led headlight bulbs they are a complete waste of time.

decided as the front brakes are having a serious upgrade in comparison to the standard set up, that id better look at the rear set up.
At the moment it has rear drums but seriously contemplating converting the rear to the 406 v6 coupe rear disc setup. Now i don't really want to have to convert the whole handbrake setup from the standard cable setup, so suggestions of a suitable rear disc setup are welcomed or should i just renew the drums and shoes?

A rare motor these days indeed. My parents had a 305 diesel estate. It's the car I took driving lessons in and passed my driving test.
Keep up the good work and the mods.

nice work I would just refurb the rear brakes as in most cases drums are better than discs on the rear espicilly for handbrake use.
