Hi newbie here, I am thinking of selling my 1967 1.3 beetle and just wondered if you guys could give me a rough estimate of what i should put it up for. Its a very solid beetle showing 49000 showing on the clock but i m pretty sure its gone round once, need to check history. it has had a full service, new breaks and lots of other bits and bobs just awaiting the chrome strips. Its had a satin black paint job and red touches in the last 2 months but is very very dirty in the picture. loads of service history with original sales book! Any help would be amazing ;D cheers guys JK Attachments:

MOT/Tax? Price depends alot on condition of the stuff you don't see in your photo like heater channels, inner arches, framehead etc. Has been resto'd at any point? (photo's or receipts for work?) More details would be helpful, I wouldn't suggest a price without seeing/knowing more. Looks like a reasonable & tidy Bug though.

when you say crossover are you thinking its the one year only 67 model ? If so then its not . Well doesnt appear so anyway. The 67 model year had old body and new running gear basically will also unique door handles and decklid. A 67 model would have sloping headlights and wings, old style inner dash, plus if its a 1300 then would be running wide 5 wheels with flat hubacps.

when you say crossover are you thinking its the one year only 67 model I think the OP is referring to the fact that it's not the pre-67 (slope front wings), but the first of the Bugs that had the 'upright' headlights.

yeah, its not a 67, or a crossover of any sort. its a 68 with the wrong bumpers on(if its 1300), although the lack of bonnet vent would suggest it could actually be a 1200 with a engine swap but the correct bumpers. either way, something been changed along the way- it is a bug after all. more pics would be needed to ascertain.

sorry for the mis information, this is my first beetle so not that up to date. After checking the log book and sales recipe it says the car was registered in 67 so not sure if the beetle has been altered or messed about with to make it look later. It is also registered as a 1.2 (my mistake) Ive spoken to my dad who is currently looking after the beetle and he said the inner arches and the frame head are "good" coming from a mechanic thats probably the best answer i will get! its got tons of receipts of work done and massive amounts of history way too much to list. Its had a full service and has 1 year tax and MOT. i also changed the bumper this week coz the old one has loads of surface rust. heres a few more pics and like i said any help would be great! Cheers JK Attachments:

its a 68' 1200 model with a few interior bits swapped for earlier stuff. the steering wheel, speedo, fuel gauge and dash trims arent original.
youre running it down by trying to make out its a 67 ( 68 model years starts aug '67) when it isnt. 1200 models are desirable in their own right, often more so that 1300+ models.

£200? Really?
Based on the pics and description, I'd happily hand over the money I have waiting for an MX5 on this - up to a grand without hesitation, probably £1200 with some thinking and prodding and finding the right answers around the rear of the chassis and heater channels.
If I spotted it on eBay I'd expect it to crack £1500 and be heading for £2K. (and be out of my budget).

I still like it ..200 .. or swop a polo 6n . Moted and taxed . ;D A rotter project would set you back more than that. It does look pretty straight, providing the underside is sound (as you believe it to be) and the mechanical side of things is fine (again as you believe it to be) I'd say a ballpark figure of £1500 - £2000, the matt black with red wheels will appeal to some but not all (I like it myself, had a matt black Bug years ago). Some people in the market for a Bug would prefer something more 'stock', as Dez rightly said it's got some early additions. Again I prefer stuff like that, but some don't. All in all it's got a full MOT & Tax and ready to roll by the sound of it, could be a rolling project (I don't mean this in a bad way but some buyers would look to mod it further) or use as is. Seems like a sweet Bug, you could try sticking it on Vzi. eBay has a big audience but a fair share of numpties with no desire to complete on a sale, personally I'd advertise it yourself for a few weeks then resort to eBay if you don't get any takers............Good luck.

I'd say depending on the MOT and how much is left then its gotta be worth at least 2k
I recently sold mine, ok, it was cal look, had slopping lights etc, but wasnt tax exempt 73 model, slammed with 3 months tax n test for the very thick end of 2k.
this looks nice, is it the same one that was parked up on the top at the gathering?
As some have said - with full ticket on it, on ebay I;d expect it to easily reach 2k, and push up to 2.5

Thanks guys for the help thats exactly what i needed!
I totally agree with you that someone might what to take it back to stock with a lovely stock paint job but satin black with red wheels is definitely more my style!
Its a great car and if it wasn't for my beautiful new purchase of a 79 mk2 1600 gl escort i would be driving it all day long! but as a student its not quite practical to be running two cars especially with young drivers crazy insurance prices!!!!
its not the one at the gathering I'm afraid (unless my dad has been spooning about in it! he seems to have taken a liking to it!)
like i said thanks again for the help, great place for classic car newbies to learn abit more about the classic car world! cheers guys JK
