Local scrap yard are taking in metal for £120 a tonne - £140 for pure metals.
I ripped doors, boot, a wing, head, wheels and various other bits including the rear bumper off and still got £120.

If it still has mot and is a runner, why not put an advert on here, as someone might want a cheap runabout

HKR, it has no mot so cant drive it down there mate panda, its a 51 plate so too new and it needs a few bits for MOT (cat and tyres). probably would only sell for £200 notes anyway so may as well just scrap it

Aye thats probably best then. Try ringing a few up who collect the car, and just go with the best price, but make sure they don't charge for collecting it.

How far is your local scrappy? Could tow it down there? I pulled the focus on the back of the dolly, once un strapped he lifted it off the dolly and onto the weigh bridge, then off the bridge and back onto his pile

Depends where you are in the country as prices vary but I'm sure my mate got close to 100 notes for his car (which was picked up from his house too) but as I say it does vary as when I was looking at getting rid of my old one years ago it was only £40 picked up

Beware you can't legally tow it without an MOT. Unless its on a trailer and all 4 wheels are off the ground. If wheels are on the ground the vehicle needs to be taxed MOT'd and insured.

That's a grey area - towing a vehicle with a rope that would apply. Using a solid bar would make the car a trailler. But then you got to make sure your license allows you to. It's all over the place. Also, traillers need to be braked (well some). Legislation vs law. Each say different.

I'd say best bet give the local scrappys a ring (ones that issue a C of D if its a scrap job) and if its under 50 quid your way (inc pickup) i'd say best bet is put it up in the local ad's or on somewhere free and see if you can get as close to 200 for it, someone might buy it as a do-er-up-er!

People will offer the lowest, they want to make the biggest profit margin but keep fishing... They'll start bidding

Stick it on eBay on a Thursday night, 3 day auction so it'll get the weekend to view. Have the auction ending around 7.00 ish in the evening when most people are settling down for the evening. You'll get the local scrap guys having a bid and the guys that'll buy it to break, maybe even a banger interested in it.
A guy I worked with had a Mk2 Modildo that had failed it's MOT (badly), local scrapyards were offering around £50 at the time. I suggested he stuck it on eBay, he did & it sold for £210......Might be worth a shot.

its £160 a ton here, plus some of these cats on modern vehicles are very very valuable, even on the diesels.

was going to say the same book it in for a mot near the iron yard and detour on the way .... the going rate is approx 120 per ton plus cat £3-£150 and alloys £6 each (no tire) if you remove them so most scrap men will be looking to offer you any where between 60 and 100 there fore leaving them a little profit for there trouble diesel etc obviously youll be beter off running it in your self as youll get more money but its you doing the leg work try not to get sucked into the its £150 a ton therefore I want 200-300 for it as its well over a ton and youll get all your money back cars don't weight as much as you think (i work in a weighbridge ) and the scrap man/traveller/mush with a transit still needs to make his money for the day i can give you a no of somone who will collect

My brother had his MkI Laguna Estate diesel collected from his work in Milton Keynes last week for £160. It was one of the companies off the internet rather than a local scrappy - they were all offering £75, but hey, everyone's got to make a living!
He was quite happy with that as it was jumping out of third now and again and had 183k on the clock. That said, it had good tyres, a towbar that had been used once, recent cambelt and tested until next May, so I think they'll make their money back whatever they do with it.
