I noticed it advertised on my local Sainsbury's notice board.
10 months MOT 6 months tax, described as VGC. £650
Do you think it would be worth a punt, it wouldn't be a keeper and id be looking to pass it on in a couple of months time.
Do you reckon its worth a punt?
I don't know much about them so what would I need to be looking out for.

If it's a 3 door and it's free ish from grot, then any mk2 GTi with decent tax and ticket, as well as a strong engine is worth that I would say. Is it 8v or 16v? Having owned both, I personally prefer the 8v for low down grunt, despite the fact many claim the 16v is more desirable. Have a very good poke around sills, arches, around the front screen and fuel filler area if you go look. Good luck if you do go for it!

Only way of finding out is going to have a browse and seeing what kinda condition it is and if its been modified! Have seen some shoddy examples in the paper described as a 'vgc' ect and then seeing it in person......(massive scuffed alloys/chipping/flaking/massive rusty backbox).........and have tried to make a sharp exit! However don't let that put you off because there are some gems out there and if its pretty much standard and looks pretty looked after then it's well worth £650 (but try and get it for 550 )

£650 isn't strong money for a half descent MK2 GTI, check the scuttle panel under the windscreen (on top and under the bonnet), sills, start it from cold and listen out for anything iffy. I've seen MK2's making reasonable money, if you advertised it on a board which specialised in Golfs/Polo's you'd probably make a buck on it (& get the use from it prior to selling).
