That looks a cracking project and I bet that mileage is genuine !! as for a upholstery when I worked for BMW we used Pickerings in Bradford. Been going years and have a good reputation. The stuff that came back was always quality.
I'll certainly be contacting them when I get my Anglia seats done.. Good look with the resto...

Well started the stripping down of the car, front and rear lights off, along with trim, door handles etc.....

maybe worth a call next to there unit is a retrimmers it may well be a good idea to phone dave or grey first.

One of the joys of working at Toyota is that you never quite know what is going to turn up in our car park!

Take a tour of the bays, and you’ll often see exciting models from our fleet of new cars – but this time, we wanted to share the arrival of something special from the past…

1966 may be known for England’s World Cup win, but for us, 1966 is also the year that this particular Toyota Corona (RT40 Series) arrived in the UK.

One of the very first cars sold by Toyota in the UK, it’s best described as the Auris of its time, and was aimed at growing families and businessmen on the move.

By today’s standards, performance is not what we would describe as sparkling, but with the 0-62mph sprint taking around 17 seconds and a top speed of 87mph, the car was competitive with its rivals.

It was also judged by car reviewers of the day as quiet, comfortable, and above all, reliable

Top spec models got carpet and seatbelts, as well as two speed wipers and a cabin heater.

The height of luxury, back in the day!

Now I think I saw one of these Toyotas on Holiday last week, Not a saloon, I think it was a Pick Up, abandoned in a yard.

Popped down to the garage today & a little more progress..

Still a fair way to go.. managed to locate a local re-trimmer too & will be taking the seats down some time next week to get a quote etc..

Update, strip down......

Just a little update....

Just started stripping the doors down, need new seals all around & I'm on the hunt.

Took out the seats today to hand over to a interior re-trimmer.

The floor pan was quite amazing after taking the remainder of carpet and underneath out :-)

Now! What are the chances of finding another Corona? Same model? Same colour? And furthermore same town? Weird.........Strange....... Or sheer LUCK???

As I'm still trying to find out with the DVLA this could possibly be one of the oldest Corona's in the Country, although there are a few 1966 RT40's around
Mine is a 'D' reg and registered in the second quarter of the year..
So to answer your question I want ot keep it original as possible.

The garage is in south Manchester (Longsight)
