Thought i'd post this up as it might be of relative interest to people on here, sorry for the long first post in advance!
Wanted to get my dad a present, found this MGB on ebay (he has a concourse roadster) and it had a stainless exhaust and tubular manifold, and apparently ran reasonably well but failed its MOT on "just" brake pipes (never got the failure sheet, but lets put it this way, it wouldve failed on alot more!)
Got it low loader'd back by a mate, lovely, ready to pull the exhaust off then break it for parts and my dad spoiled the plan! He saw it and said there was no way I was allowed to just break it for parts.
Heres how it looked when I first got it, along with my '69 MGC
Had the stupid idea that it would look nice cream crackered (but reverse cream cracker) and started painting it (montana satin paint)
Left side done, bearing in mind at this point I hadnt taken a hammer to the rust yet...
After beating the lower sill with a hammer, this occured, passenger side was actually better than drivers side -
Failed at taking pictures, but re-made the inner and fitted repair panels, and painted them poo brown as was still on the cream cracker flex at this point -
decided I didnt like the rubber bumper wings, so did this -
And the drivers side, much worse -
Re-did all that, and then decided to ditch the chrome side strips, and was seriously rushed as at this point it was 2 weeks until my sisters wedding, operating out of a garage at my nans where they were holding the wedding reception, oops.
Flat out for a weekend, did the brake lines, gave it a tune and got it out the garage -
Then a few weeks (read months) later, took it for an MOT, which it passed, taxed it, then parked it up as I had other cars to play around with.
Short story, bought my old Nissan S13 200sx back as wanted to get back into a drift car, then realised I had no money and sold it to a mate, down the pub one afternoon talking about skidding and I simply mentioned that i'd love to turn the MGB into a drift car, to which I got the usual "you'll never do it" "bull" "blablabla" comments....
That weekend, welded the diff, lowered the front, fitted a bucket seat and 3pt harness and a pair of 15" wheels I got when I bought my second S13 2 years ago...
Then hit the back with the lowering stick (no front 15"s as I blew one out at 2am )
Had major hesitation issues, turned out the rear carb fuel inlet was blocked, but rebuilt both carbs fully (only after doing a hidious list of things first with no luck) and adjusted the floats up, when I had the carbs off clocked it had a ported head (also port matched the inlet manifold while everything was off)
Bought some wheels, waiting for them to arrive but heres a photoshop -
Tomorrow, will be repainting it, bored of the beige.
7th of November ive booked the day off work and plan on taking it to Santapod DWYB
Sorry for the long boring first post...
