Ok been a while so better do an update not a lot has happened (been to busy at work) but spring 2014 is pressing on, next job is to get the body straight would rather have got a body shop to do this but I have come to the conclusion that its to much trouble for them and they can make more cash out of quick body repairs from the insurers, anyway bit the bullet and got on with it today, the worse parts are the rear 1/4 panels as I think when it was in OZ the panels got a bit battered, check out the two new e-bay special bright yellow sanding tools never used these before but great for long flat and curved panels ones flexible and the other rigid also note the newly acquired front air dam




found a mg rover 75 rear number plate makes a great filler spreader

Had enough of bodywork for a while so seeing as my suspension has arrived which I post some pics soon thought I need to make tracks on the rear end braking spent enough ££££ this last couple of months on suspension and a full set of dash clocks so decided to do the rear disc conversion myself spent half of boxing day researching the web on discs calipers PCDs cable entry positions and of making sure there man enough for the job in hand, all I can say is that the calipers are lucas from an English rear engine car (plenty of stopping effort) and the discs are from a rover 827 I went for these as there 260mm diameter and the stud pattern 114.3 ( don't like them conversions when you have about 9 stud holes all over the place) all I had to do was turn the centre out 4mm (RESULT) the other good thing is that the handbrake cable enters the same direction as it is intended on the drum brake set up and should be out of the way of shafts and suspension and no nasty bends, during the next couple of weeks I fabricate the conversion brackets and share, maybe if it works well when I finish the car I might make a few kits up for sale, obviously the rusty suspension is for mocking up purposes only

Very nice parts!
Painting the garage floor was probably a bit sh*t to do but it makes it so much nicer to work in in the long run! I should really paint mine.

Hmm should I give my trade secrets out about what calipers I have used?? ....oh alright then MGF rears

Alan I did think about making the suspension myself but the pound is so good against the dollar and them rose joints are a left hand thread on the rear wishbones so no disassembly required when adjusting, just slacken the two locknuts on each joint and they work like a bottle screw that little lot all powder coated and landed at my doorstep £790 the parts and materials would have cost me £300 odd quid

Taa, I've been looking at doing a rear calliper conversion on my mini and they looked nice and compact

now the shell shoud be painted by the end of the month so I need to get some more parts ready to fit to the shell
so ali cleaned the gearbox down etch primed and painted it this way it stays nice for ever just a wash down now and again done the pedal box, pedals and dash frame as well also had a test spray of the final colour

I suppose you have to have a vivid colour so people will be aware of you bearing down on them when your on the track ??
