Here is my 1980 Triumph Dolomite 1300. I bought it 2 months back off ebay. I've had 6 or 7 of these now and after a long spell of being Dolomite-less I thought I'd re-ignite that old flame and buy another!
When I bought it the oil was as thick as treacle and the engine knocking from the bottom end. I drove it back home carefully/slowly mixxing it up with the Lorries in the slow lane! Once home I swapped the engine for a fairly recently rebuilt engine I bought off a mate (less than 4000 miles on it now). When the engine was built it had some head work and was fitted with a Kent TH3 camshaft (Kent sell this as fast road/rally profile!). On the previous car this engine was fitted to the engine work was complimented with a Weber 40 carb on a TriumphTune manifold and a larger bore exhaust pipe mated to a 1500 421. Unfortunatly the Weber 40 won't fit if you run a dual line brake master cylinder so I had to make do with my standard HS6 single carb and slightly restrictive standard 1300 exhaust system Even with these restrictions on the engine the car is getting to 60 2 seconds quicker than standard and is capable of over 90mph Its not by any means 'fast' of course but its fun to tinker
I live on an air base in Yeovil and often travel to my parents 120 miles away in Wales with a good 90 miles on the motorway. This Dolomite does this with ease along with the occasional jaunt in to town. Always starts (once I've allowed oil pressure to build on the starter motor before pulling the choke) even if its been left unused all week, has never let me down, gets high 30s to the gallon and is just a fun car to cruise around in.
The car isn't cleaned up in these photos and is a true representation of how it is. Theres a few dents around the car and some small colour variations where its had previous touch ups but all in all a very solid car both underneath and on top. Just half hour ago a lady told me I had a 'truly stunning car' whilst at the petrol station
Theres tax until the end of the month and 12 months MOT, which I only had to put a new subframe bush on for. Previous owner had taken care of new ball joints, track rod ends, braided brake flexys, stainless exhaust etc luckily for me
I'd be interested in some sort of swap or part ex for something interesting.
