EQUIPMENT
Steel panelled coachwork, up-and-over bonnet, toughened safety glass screen, folding soft hood, tonneau cover, winding windows, driving mirrors, fitted front seat belts, self-parking twin electric wipers, twin windtone horns, chrome- plated bumpers, rubber insert overriders, speedometer, tachometer, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, three spoke steering wheel, sun visors.
EXTERIOR
A presentable example finished in Mimosa Yellow, (code 54). The vehicle has been painted and although shiny lacks a glossy finish. The colour is uniform but on close inspection the paint has a slight dull haze. All the chrome is bright and shines but does have very tiny pitting. The black hood and tonneau cover are in excellent order with no rips or repairs. Structurally sound but evidence of past repairs can be seen such as the off-side front wheel arch which has cracks. The boot lid has the remains of four circular marks due to a boot rack having been fitted in the past. The engine bay is very clean. A condition three exterior.
INTERIOR
A snug cockpit in good condition. The black PVC seats are in excellent order with no damage and match the perfect black door cards. The black moulded carpet is complete but worn in the driver’s foot well. All the gauges, column stalks and rocker switches function. The steering wheel has been painted black and started to flake slightly. A 1980’s radio cassette player has been fitted. Complete, usable and very presentable.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A simple 1296cc four cylinder engine producing 61bhp with incredible parts availability makes maintenance and ownership very cost effective. An engine overhaul by Manvers Triumph in Suffolk less than 400 miles ago but in August 2006 means the vehicle would benefit from use after a period of inactivity. An expensive full stainless steel exhaust system offers a wonderful exhaust note. The 4-speed gearbox is light and a joy to use.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Steel disc type with 4.5 standard rims and polycarbonate wheel trims are excellent with four new tyres. Front disc brakes and rear drums safety stop the car.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new in January 1972 this vehicle has a comprehensive history file with an extensive collection of MOT certificates helping to confirm the 89,854 miles covered. Purchased by the previous owner unseen in 2005 in order to achieve a matching pair of ‘his and her’ Spitfires he was disappointed with the overall condition. Subsequently sent to Manvers Triumph in 2006 to have all the ‘disappointing’ areas addressed and presented with a bill for £3388.69 it then remained unused covering just 400 miles since extensive overhaul.
Not meeting KGF Classic Cars exacting standards this vehicle is being sold with NO RESERVE and as spares or repair. There is NO BUY IT NOW price and the auction WILL NOT be ended early. The vehicle WILL NOT be sold anywhere else other than eBay. The highest bidder whatever the price will be the lucky new owner!
Restrictions have been placed on who can bid, (i.e. you must have a PayPal account for example). If your bid is blocked please make contact in the first instance and we can authorise your account.
