Well Grizz, looks like I have already considered some of your ideas: The olive green staff car would look awesome! If I had deeper pockets than I do, I would like to build this - .... till then, I'm considering this "inch pincher" inspired look - or maybe "rat" look!

Loads of great ideas there dubpt.
All of them have parts I would like.
Possibly the Prius look is my favourite.

In My Opinion - Cool (probably why I have had a couple) Blatant self promotion: There are some real monstrosities out there though with ton's of stick on chrome and sky-high ride height! as already said.. how sweet is that!! definitely cool. couple of questions, the steels are obviously Vw rims. but are thay 16" rims? and what size tyres you run on it? also how did you go about lowering it? lowered springs with a light chop? as i know its hard to find (this side of the pond anyway) really low lowering springs! please do tell. oh and you got anymore photos of it??

I know that those VW steelies come in 15" and 16" , also the standard wheels on the PT are usually 15" As the PT has a fair bit of the Chrysler Neon in it's DNA here is an alternative to those bug chrome dome hub caps which stick out too far! Standard wheel stays on the car and carefully lineup the rim you want on bits of wood in font of it. 16" VW beetle wheel and a 1970's Austin Mini hubcap stuck on with tape for the mockup. I deal tyre would be 205 50 R16

i really like that....id love it flameless though! and thats effin gorgeous! i actually fancy one myself but i like the less is more look. that grille that loses the front bumper in the centre (forget its name lol) decent slam and careful choice of rims is a cracking look for one of these!

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!

Well, at 08.30 yesterday I started this same thread over on www.GarageJournal.com in their Free Parking section. Over 1000 views and two pages of responses. Interesting views, opinions and experiences on there plus a pic of a real beauty on page two. I do not think you need to be registered to look at it, so here is a link to that thread as well. www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=184186It would seem the jury has concluded over there that it is not cool unless the fans are keeping their heads below the parapet to avoid ridicule. I still feel that it can be turned into a Non-Corsa/Polo/Hyundai daily with quirky, interesting looks and a certain amount of practicality etc on a reasonable budget. As long as you observe the Retro Rides Ethos of Everything having Potential and adding a bit of off centre creativity like DubPT above, you could be rising above the mediocre in a car that may not inspire in its natural form. You could still have the last laugh after the haters have found a new target. Now where's my Auto Trader magazine?

My mum had one and loved it. Seemed well built and she had it a few years without fault. It was the powerful diesel one and was more than quick enough! I was 50/50 with it but I think id have one now I'm a bit more grown up!

Here is that picture Grizz was taking about. The diesel option Rob Morris was on about I think was the 2.5 crd which was from when mercedes owned Chrysler and is from their stock of motors. The petrol four pot engines are sought after by neon owners to replace or upgrade engines in their neons. As for the photo faking skills, well I don't have photoshop and I find looking at things in real life better than a photo! As for the moon landings that happened in the 60's I wasn't born till the late 70's.

Here's a link to another build that could devide. I would say you need to look at it for what it is though.... www.xtremegravity.com/jay.htmlIf the link does not work, it is on page 3 of the Garage Journal thread. Not sure how to transfer those images here.

I've always been a fan of the PT and the retro styled pick-up that came out at about the same time, the lights have always bothered me though.the flamed one is very cool and I they seem to share my opinion.I'd like to see one with the front and rear 'arch' lights filled and replaced with say....frenched 59' Caddy lights on the rear and some big old torpedoes on the front.
