Sometimes it just takes a moment of insanity, a beer too many or a flash of flesh to make you do something stupid (or not) Last night I was watching something that was recorded on telly,(Inside West Coast Customs where they did a Mustang and auctioned it off for charity at Barrett Jackson) and there was a flash of a PT Cruiser van, in mint green and cream I think, with scallops. Anyway, set me off thinking today whether building a van was a viable and sensible option. Followed by some interesting paint job. I think you get them in 1.6, 2.0 and 2.4 liter flavours with choice of auto and manual gearboxes. So my question is two fold...... Are PT Cruisers cool enough if customised, and seeing as I saw some with prices starting as low as £100 opening bids on Ebay, are they lemons To help you think and reply here area few pics I pulled off Google. Imagine this one paneled CURVED BALL www.flickr.com/photos/navymailman/4025065182/And one for good luck...... yes, I know its not a PT Cruiser ;D ;D ;D ;D Just because I love these Subarus. A curved ball.

Noisy, underpowered, plasticky, dead feeling steering, terrible autoboxes.
In black they look like London taxis.

I'd rather have that one Subaru that all the tat above it! Do you really want a PT, or would you rather have something like this... or this... or this... Personally, I'd rather have your Taunus Transit over any PT ever made!

there seems to be a big following at the local shows around my way. Most look like they've driven through the plastic stick on chrome isle at Halfords.

They look surprisingly better as vans than cars! However, still not that pretty!

don't worry too much.
Like I say, a flask of a pic got me thinking, not acting.
The Transit is for sale but only to make place for something over powerfull, V8, American and born in 1960.

The mrs one is alright ;D 2.2 diesel, 2 owners 75k £2000 about 3 months ago, we seem to have got a really good deal and I gave £300 more than they would of got as a trade in. Its "acceptable" on fuel, has all the bits she wanted (this one seems to have gone through ptcruiserstore.co.uk/ at just the wrong time and come out with some extras) I actually (saddens me to say this) quite like it. Pulls alright, comfy, all the gadgets modern cars should have and more, interior isn't too bad apart from the faux leather (on edges of seat base) they tend to crack, Half decent amount of space, the kids love it "cos its on fire!!!" The engine is one of the mercedes line up. Front lower wishbone bushes generally need changing every time you do the oil I keep getting tempted by wheels and lowering. Actually these wheels this low and that woody kit The van conversion panels are quite cool looking but I would say fairly unpractical if you have ever seen the back of one, its quite small. I'm fairly sure UK ones are 2.0 and 2.4 (N/A and turbo) petrols and 2.2 diesel (early diesels were 115hp and later on it got changed to 150hp, later is better) PS diesels are a curse word to fill as the filler isn't big enough to get a diesel nozzle into (whoever designed that part needs a slap)

Its taken a few years but they have finally grown on me, I think one slammed with Foose Spank rims and a few other choice mods oh and a bit of pin striping think it could look the part.

It's the car version of NEXT clothes. Chinos with pockets on the side of the legs. Its got "American Chopper" aficionado glued all over it. You're much much better than this Grizz

Think they look reasonable, at least some manufacturers tried an alternative to standard familcar look. Petrols are terrible with fuel and build quality is poor.

I'm not a fan, but I applaud the manufacturers for at least trying to be a bit different as jamierecluse says
