Oooh, looks like a good issue. I'm pretty certain the red V8 Mk1 Escort on the cover is a local car that gets driven enthusiastically (sometime too much so).

I'm ashamed to say I don't buy it any more. I love reading it, but I made the conscious decision to stop buying magazines last year as the price of them means getting the ones I wanted was running to £30-40 a month.

I like magazines. I like the fact that when I go to look back at an article I've remembered from years ago, none of the pages now say "Error 404: page not found", none of the pictures are now a little red cross or a notice that says "This picture has been moved or deleted by the user". Also, I don't have internet on my phone and I find my laptop is a bit awkward to use when I'm dropping the kids off at the pool.
Anyway, I will probably buy this because I like cars and pictures of them and words about them.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

When I open the mag up ( any year) I can remeber every article!!! Long live manual things!!!

I'm probably one of the oldest on here (I'm 50) and I've loved cars of all types since I was two, so my mum and dad tell me. I've bought car magazines since I was, say, five and today it's great to see so many different types catering for almost all types of cars. And in the older car segment there's a shedload, ranging from pure classic magazines through to one-make titles and then ones such as CC and Retro Cars.
It's great to see so many out there but of course some titles will have a small readership than others - it's just a fact of car magazine life. But I'd support paper magazines all day long. Yes I'm biased, because I've made a reasonable living writing about old cars and the motor industry for B2B titles for a long time, but rather than saying something's not right offer some constructive support. Send in pics and ideas to magazine editors, talk to the staffers if you see them at shows. It's easy to criticise but much more fulfilling to support.
Right - back to writing a story about windscreen wiper profit margins!

I've always bought RC.My local shop for local people here in NZ gets it for me 8 quid a pop.I know its pricey but I like to support local trade. It does fill a niche.Modern cars are soul less to me.The concept of standard looking classics with modern power is brilliant. With the introduction of air bags more modern cars with good engines are getting written off as air bags are too costly to replace.MGBs with S2000 engines Bond bugs with Hyabusas.I'd like to see a Volvo 360 with a Rotary.
I'm all for it

The problem as I see it is that you are not supporting the 'scene' by buying the mag - just lining the pockets of the publishers.

Ive had to stop buying any mags purely because of finances but I do always have a cheeky look through retrocars whenever I see it, always something to interest me. I like mags simply because I often read an old one that I havent read for ages and realise how much I miss the old scenes and styles. If it wasnt for looking at that I wouldnt even think about looking for them online, the ones that stay forgotten are the ones that arent in the mags.
As soon as I manage to find employment again though (sooner the better) and I know I have that spare change for them I will start buying these again, probably one of the best car mags out there.
