Dawn Drive...?

Does anyone know what happened to the dawn drive meets?

The one in Birmingham in Sept 2011 was my first encouter with RR, and my first ever real car meet. It was fantastic, getting up in the early hours, getting into Jons 164 and meeting up with likeminded/tired/insane souls to drive as the sun rises. There were about 20 cars iirc, and some people came all the way from Bristol!

Would love to do another one...

Twas fun (I organised it), but in a tragic twist a bunch of us finished the day off at Hednesford for the Pre-68 and watched a driver get killed right in front of us.

Didn't feel inclined to repeat the event, as it would have always reminded me of how I felt when I got home that afternoon. Sounds a bit over-dramatic I guess, but I don't care. If I never see anything quite that horrifying again it would STILL be too soon for me. I had several sleepless nights and bad dreams for a couple of weeks afterwards.

Nothing stopping someone else organising one somewhere else, mind....

Ah, I remember that now come to think of it. I was extremely glad I decided to go back to my bed for a couple hours kip, instead of joining you all. It was bad enough hearing about it afterwards.

Something similar somewhere else would be a good idea though I think, it was such a great drive, and the fact that everyone was equally as eager/stupid to get up so early made it a great atmosphere.

I will definately treasure the memory of KFWs P100 going sideways on the roundabouts too.

Watch this space though, I may see if I can convince some oddballs to do something similar somewhere else.
