Whilst i had the crossmember off i took off the sump and checked the inside of the engine And gave it a bloody good clean before putting an oil control panel on drilling the sump for an oil temp sender and refitting the sump with new gasket and studs with nylock nuts, not the bolts as standard

I do like the 928! It's my favourite Porsche by a country mile! ;D
One of my dad's business partners was quite a car enthusiast and had one of these (a 928S) in the early 1980s. I loved the thing and was horrified when he traded it in for an Audi Quattro, which was in comparison, horrible. He only kept that for a short time, trading it in for a 911 - which though nothing like as nice as the 928, was much nicer than the Audi.
I will be looking out for your updates.
David

Hi All/Anyone Sorry for the gap between updates... So another picture of one of the wheel wells finish painted What to do about brakes??.... well i decided some time ago that i would do a brake upgrade to 928 GTS standard, so i brought some new calipers from the US... but GTS discs are bloody expensive So after thinking about this for a while i decided to buy a set of Pagid Cayenne Turbo discs as Euro had a cut price deal and they are 350mm dia x 34mm thick. Due to different offsets and diameters i machined a pair of hubcentric spacers for the discs and a set of offset spacers out of aerospace ally to sort out the new caliper positions. So now we have this! I think it will stop o.k. now!

Brilliant. There's some proper work going into this. I'm alway jealous of you guys who can machine your own parts.
Have some bravery points for tackling exotica too.

I brought a set of wheels....sometime ago for this project, as i like the contrast between the white car and black wheels. Obviously i had to have tyres so we now have these! Which look like this on the car They are 19" wheels with Bridgestone 265/35/19 on the front and 305/30/19 on the rears.

Just a few overview shots of the front showing the aircon system and the power steering cooling lines...oh and the wires I have never loked looms running around the engine bay so I'm in the process of renewing and rerunning the engine bay wiring. Also I'm adding a few things as i go ;D Thanks for looking!

It's coming along exceedingly well! ;D
I've always loved the way the 928 inlet manifold looks like a giant robotic spider.

Lovely stuff! I can only assume that you are running Big Blacks with regards to your brakes? Great stoppers I must say, and so far they don't squeal like a number of M030 or 'Small Black' Brembos .

Hi all ;D Sorry for the delay! Hi Darrylwebb thanks! about a grand Hi dbdb, stu and vern...thanks for the comments guys...stay tuned! Hi chasr..yes they are big blacks, but slightly modified So seeing as its been really good weather...not... ive been in the workshop doing some stuff. I have got a couple of 5 speed boxes for both the cars as I'm doing manual conversions. I am currently starting to strip and check the gearbox, lsd and torque tube, so ill take some pictures whilst I'm going along. Last weekend i decided to hunt around for the parts i have amassed for the clutch and drive line. I found the flywheel that i want to use, but as its from a later car it has a timing ring on it with more teeth than the one that comes with the engine(auto). So I'm working out a way to put the new ring on the flywheel, so the ecu can run it! so more on that later. Anyway... the face of the flywheel was a bit scored and burnt so i had a hunt around and found an old tile cutter motor and made a unit to grind the flywheel on one of my lathes. Which gave me this:- Thanks for following

Hello all: Or anyone still following. Sorry have had some 'stuff come up' so have not had time to do much. Anyway, i have made some progress over the last couple of days. i thought i would clean up the rear crossmember as i have nearly finished painting the underside of the car now (piccies to follow) so this morning i started with this And by mid morning i had this Thats better! To get rid of some stuff from my new part cabinet, and to make some progress i started to assemble the handbrake cables, gearbox mounts and exhaust hangers. Unfortunately, some of the bolt sizes are a finer pitch than standard...and i didn't have any, so the mounts will have to wait, also there were a couple of brackets i have not got back from the platers yet, so i only got this far! Unfortunately...the boss was about today....so i had to behave myself1:) Here is a piccy of some of the small bits i have, cleaned, derusted and plated

Here is a picture of the spacers and blocks I machined for the front brake upgrade. I was priming them at the time. So, now time to start on the torque tube. I have already removed the shaft and the bearings, so I'm just going to flush out the inside and remove the paint and rust on the outside, treat and repaint.....then I can re assemble with new bearings fitted. Anybody got any ides what I should do with these?? ;D ;D More soon!!

Wow, with a supercharger it will fly! The 928 isn't exactly slow to start with. Is the supercharger stuff from a Jaguar V8? Those plated parts look great - did you use one of those zinc kits?
