Love For the Slightly Unloved - Datsun 280ZX 2+2

Hi all

We all know and love the beautiful lines of a Datsun 240Z (Fairlady Z)


BUT..... what about its slightly younger, bigger and not so pretty brother... the 280ZX 2+2 (targa/hardtop). Personally I still love them ;D (carefull 280Z 2 seater is a different car!!)

I did own a early Z31 300ZX Turbo and I loved that, which is very similar but with a later front end and the larger 3.0V6......

Personally i think with the costs of the 240 and 260 going up, the 280 prices will start climbing too, then more people will realise its a cool car.

A 280ZX done right is definitely a cool car. And I've noticed they've gone up in value quite a bit recently, so not entirely unloved any more, which I think probably is partly due to the rise in value of 240s and 260s, aye. My old man had one when I was a kid, and thus begun my love of Z cars. You know there was a 2-seater 280ZX too, right?

Yea i know there was a 2 seater but its the 2+2 thats the real "unloved" one.
The 4 seater is the "hard to find an awesome one" one!! lol

Right, yeah, no the 2+2 still doesn't get a lot of love, haha. That silver one you posted looks the nuts.

I'm more of an old school JDM guy and love the bottom blue one on the gold rims and the top dark red on on longchamps ;D

oh and th really low black one on gold rims

Howcan you not like these? Yeah, i get that the 240 is the nicer brother, just like the splitty is usually more popular than a bay window, but in my opinion a rightly done bay window is better than a splitty, and i don't see why the equation cant be transfered to the datties...

The orange one is a 2 seater 280ZX and are more desirable but I think only avaliable for the US market outside Japan. (?)

Its the long wheel base 4 seater (2+2) I'm on about which people sometime muddle up. The 2+2 is often refered to as ugly due to its odd stretched dimentions.
