I am swapping engines in the capri and the old one is ready to lift out in a sec. When I seperate the (auto) box from the engine will ATF make the streets run red? Or is it contained?
Thanks, I realise how daft this sounds.

nope, not daft. Only stupid questions are the ones where you already asked it and didn;t listen to the answer.
The ATF lives in the box which is separated from the bellhousing by a cast bulkhead. The only way you'll get ATF coming out is if the torque converter seal is gone. And in that case you'll already have ATF averywhere anyway.
You can drain the box down first if you like by dropping the base plate / sump off the trans but this is a messy job as they almost never put a drain plug on autoboxes for some reason.

Hey up another question. Have totally stripped all the ancillaries off and anything connecting the engine to the car. The engine mounts have been unbolted from the engine itself, not just from the crossmember. All the bolts going around the bellhousing have been unbolted with the starter still there as thats seperate. I can now move the engine up and down with the crane but the engine will still not seperate from the box. Any ideas? It's as if something is holding it back at the bottom of the bellhousing, but there is nothing that i can see.
Help peeps, the sun is setting rather fast.

Certainly have the home made 2 foot crowbar/crane handle being weapon of choice. It's weird the top half is coming away as i lift the engine, but the bottom half doesn't, like a hinge.

I've unbolted the bellhousing, which specific part is the torque converter? torque converter is inside the bellhousing. held by four or more bolts, accessed from the engine side of the flywheel. have you undone the little tin sheild at the bottom of the 'box? if you ain't then the flywheel won't come past it. you'll also need to get this off to access the torque converter bolts. small pic showing convertor location- ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

D'oh, found the torque converter bolts and undone them so will have a go at seperating it now.
p.s. just for reference they're 16mm.
