Maybe we could have a J engine database, I get so confused..........VG30E........... Thats possibly not a bad idea, the J engine codes are alot simpler than most euro models but they can be confusing if youve never seen them before. I'm sure theres enough knowledgeable people on here to do it Although most of them arnt too retro

sorry VG30E engine is from a 300zx (3000cc V6) FJ20ET fis from a Ausy Nissan Gazelle (silvia) 200cc 16v turbo Actually, the FJ20ET is from a Japanese market Gazelle RS-X. Australia never got the FJ20ET powered Gazelles or Silvias. Nissan Engine codes are fairly simple. The first bit it the engine series, the number is the capacity and the following letters are the engines atributes. So in FJ20ET...the FJ is the engine series, 20 is for two litre, E is for electronic fuel injection and T is for turbo. The VG30E number works the same way and a turbo version would be VG30ET. A DOHC turbo version would be VG30DET, the D denoting twin cam. There are some exceptions thouygh. The FJ20E is a twin cam but doesn't get a D in the code because there was never a SOHC vesion. Here's some more examples... CA18S = CA series 1.8 carburettor SOHC CA18E = CA series 1.8 EFI SOHC CA18DE = CA series 1.8 EFI DOHC CA18DET = CA series 1.8 EFI DOHC turbo E16S = E series 1.6 carb E15ET = E series 1.5 EFI turbo RB26DETT = RB series 2.6 EFI DOHC twin turbo I can do a full list and their applications of anyone wants ;D
