I've got two new wider wheels for the back of the ZS but they is grey and they need to be white. is it best to send them off to be painted or can I safely bodge it at home and if so how.
In the same vein I have some bigger veted front diss and calipers and I'd quite like to paint the calipers blue to match the car. i guess this I CAN do but I will need heat resistant paint?

You can use smoothrite to paint the wheels - my old Mini had wellers that I painted white with the stuff, no problems

How about some kind of glue you can spray on (spray mount?) then spray-paint over the top of, as it will give a key to the surface of the wheel without having to sand them at all, thus not damaging the faces?
It's just a guess though.....
For calipers, heat resistant is preferable. See you local Ned accessory shop: they'll have some in stock.

Yeah I painted my alloys by just keying up the old paint, getting rid of the flaky chunks, then priming and painting with regular car spray paint. Bosh a little lacquer over it and hey presto. That said, the pro's do a proper job with sandblasting and all - I intend to get it done to my alloys when I can afford it, and to take out the huge scuffs that the rims have suffered by having low profiles on them!

Do you folks have Tremclad over there? Years ago I painted some new black wheels for the Tercel in silver. Tremclad is selfpriming in this case. Just wiped them down and hit them with 2-3 coats. Lasted for about four years, winter and summer, before it started to fade.

If you paint your callipers with regular paint itll last one day. Use heat resistant if you want it to last
Make sure its totally dry as well, if its only just try and you drive on it itll get coated in brake dust which will never clean off
