many a night I drool over the amazing cars posted on here, particularly in the pic no words thread. Got me wondering, despite owning alot of cars, many retro vw's I've never owned one that has crowds of people clammering to take pics, a mag featured car or one worthy of the above thread so, who has (feel free to post a pic too)

That's incredibly subjective. I've owned two cars I've completely loved and considered amazing. Neither were anything special in a conventional sense. This is one of them

No pics i'm afraid but about 15 years ago I owned a 350ci small block engine BMW e28 5 series. It had some suspension mods and loads of engine mods. I've driven many fast cars but this was without a doubt the most thrilling and possibly the fastest. The noise was awesome and the smallest prod of the throttle would get you sideways. Tyre technology wasn't what it is now!

One man's awesome is another man's "ugly square postman pat van" My first cube had a 4 page feature in FastCar magazine in 2010 in this state of modification ... Then had a 7 page feature in Total Nissan in 2011 in this state of modification ... Once the current cube was up to spec I had a 1/3rd page photo / brief interview in FHM in 2012 (The top 100 women issue) in this state of modification ....

As stated above, many of our cars are awesome. And as for the 'mag featured' bit, as a man who used to work on Retro Ford and Performance Ford as well as many other titles, I can tell you that not every feature car is amazing or awesome. Some were terrible in fact (though not the RST above, I remember drooling over that when my colleague featured it, and I don't even like RSTs). My two cents? This heap... It was and always will be laughably awesome to me. I've owned some 'interesting' cars over the years, but none have ever received as much attention, nor been photographed as much as that heap. And it made its way into Fast Car and Classic Ford, kind of. Oh, it's a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme by the way. As for shiny awesome, I'd have to say my dad does pretty well on that front with his 1955 mild custom Ford Thunderbird. It's immaculate, it's mean and it's the only mild custom we know of. Oh, and it'll be going in a magazine soon enough... Chris
