Tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn we will be hitting the road for Sydney (a 10 hour drive) to showcase our BSA Bull Sh!t Art Bantam at the Deus Ex Machina Boundless Enthusiasm Biker Buildoff on Saturday. It should be a great day and we can't wait to see what everyone else has built within the rules of minimal cost and maximum creativity. We are extremely proud of our effort with the BSA, having built the entire thing on the back deck, from frame modifications right through to custom brake cables, so if we make it into the top 5 bikes on the day we would love you to vote for us in the international people's choice bikebuildoff.com/No details are available on how the voting works yet but we will keep you informed on Saturday if we can. For anyone else making the trip we look forward to seeing you there! Facebook event page for those interested: www.facebook.com/events/405327732913170/?ref=25

WE MADE THE TOP 5!
Absolutely blown away at the moment, but very proud to announce that we made the top 5 in the Australian part of the event! This means that we are in the running for the international people's choice, as well as the recipients of a very cool trophy and come cool merch.
Thanks to Deus for putting on the event, I will add photos once I am home and on a decent internet connection.

As promised a few pics of the weekend. I left home at 6:30 Friday morning, picking up a good mate and his bike before heading up for what turned out to be a 13 hour drive to Sydney by the time we'd picked up some last minute supplies and battled Sydney's peak hour and one way streets. We got an hour or 2 work done finishing off the second bike that evening before calling it a night so that we could get up at the crack of dawn Saturday. Saturday morning it was straight down to the venue for an incredible day. So many cool bikes, some with incredible build quality, great crowds all day, good food put on by Deus and perfect weather. Was blown away to get the BSA into the top 5 after 3 months work, especially being one of the first bikes I have worked on! Sunday was pleasantly uneventful, with the return trip to Melbourne managed in around 10 hours, although I could not believe the 8+ speed trap police cars we saw on the Hume on the drive! Anyway, a lineup of some of the great bikes waiting to sign in: This thing was just crazy, especially being built in 24 hours! My favourite Brat look of the day, although the old rear tank mount would have been very effective at castration: Very cool and quirky BMX inspired build Great use of the Honda wings design: Fun Trike Great rework of an old XT250 dirt bike My mate's Suzuki F50 build Bobbers Dirt Trackers Cafe Racers Some of the brilliant bikes ridden in by people checking out the show: The winner on the day And of course my little BSA mingling in the crowd With it's super cool trophy

Congratulations, that is awesome. Some good competition there, although I dare say you had the lowest seat height by a long way!
So, are there more shows in this bike's future or is it time to sell and start the next project?

Funny you should ask that waveman... If anyone is reading this thread from Melbourne, Australia, then there is a great event which you should be getting down to this weekend. Oil Stained Brain is on for the second year running and by all accounts it will be even bigger and better then last time. We have been lucky enough to be invited to show the BSA as one of the 30 or so bikes on display and can't wait to see what else will be there. This year the event will be held at the Kustom Commune in Collingwood, which is an inner city communal motorcycle workshop due to open a week after the event, so if you are interested by the workshop it will be a great chance to take a sneak peak at that as well. Full details of the event can be found at oilstainedbrain.com.au/ or on facebook at www.facebook.com/events/535555426526014/

Thanks guys. 1 week of voting down and the BSA is creeping up towards 400 votes, putting me around 10th position which I am wrapped with given the quality of competition and my lack of bike building experience. I would love to hit 500 before voting closes next Monday. deuscustoms.com/bikebuildoff/vote/entrant/666/

Wow, sorry I missed this thread. Love the proportions of it, certainly some tough competition but still like the proportions of yours best. You still haven't included any good shots of it with anyone properly on yet though! Noticed I'm actually revising a pair of the same (cheap!) handle bar grips right now!

haha yes, the grips are the grips which came on the XT, they were in good condition so they stayed on the bike as it progressed. Not a great shot, I haven't really taken any shots of the bike with an occupant, but here is one taken at the Deus Build Off:

Deus's International competition has finished and the Bantam placed 9th in the world! Wrapped with the result for a bike built in the backyard on a very limited budget. The Bantam no longer graces our garage, it has been moved to a new loving home, which is exciting because it clears space for another project. We have a vintage Zundapp frame which has been sitting around gathering parts for a while, but that will be sitting a little longer as we are off to collect a Mitsubishi Silver Pigeon on the weekend. Thanks for all the support for this project, looking forward to sharing the next one with you all.

Congratulations! That really is inspiring. I've just googled the Mitsubishi Silver Pigeon, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll do with that one! Will be interesting to see which shape you have?

The red and white one is the shape I am collecting over the weekend. The Japanese still had a pretty poor understanding of lines and form in this period so there will be a fair bit of 'tweaking to be done to the bodywork I think...
