Ok so I have been a lurker on this forum for ages. I love seeing what you guys get up to, buy being a VW Beetle guy I generally end up on vzi or nboc...Northern beetle owners club based in Northern Ireland where I live. Anyway I bought a scooter a few years ago and it has served me well but now fancy something a bit more old school for my commute. You guys love your puch' but I was hankering after an old Honda... queue my want for a Honda Camino. Browsing Gumtree I spot what looks to be a Camino, but it is advertised as a Yamaha and indeed it has Yamaha on the transmission but it looks like a Honda is anyone able to tell me what model it is? Sorry for making the first post a question I will make it worth your while by posting some pictures of my bug tomorrow! (Photo on page 2)

It definitely looks like a camino. Maybe had an engine swap.

That's what has me confused. Only difference I can spot is the tail light and then the Yamaha on the transmission. Got me thinking. Not many of these things over here and it's pretty far away so thought I'd try and research it before jumping the gun.

Back in the day, the Japanese manufacturers all seemed to make near-identical versions of each other's bikes. For example, as well as the one shown above, there were the Yamaha lookalikes of the Honda Cub. Honda C50/70/90/etc Yamaha Y50/80 There are many more examples!

It doesn't seem to be a qt50 at all. No shaft drive on this thing either. I even counted the slats in the horn grill and they were the same as the Honda... Stumped

Very similar, but qt50 has its fuel tank under the seat, whereas the tank is attached to the frame of the camino. Chances are its a cobble together of camino and qt50.

That may be the answer, I was hoping someone on here would know. Anyone still think it's worth a punt even if it's now a camino? The guy selling doesn't have a tax book, Or is it a bit of a gamble. It will end up modified either way but don't fancy any grief getting paper work.

Run the number through the DVLA vehicle check thing and make sure it comes up as a bike. If it works on NI plates?.Its £25 for a logbook here now so knock that off the price. No idea if its worth buying. I wouldn't want to give more than £75 for it personally at least then if you can get it running without major expense you can shift it on to kids as a field bike
I'll stand back now and prepare for a load of abuse from moped collectors - i have to point out that pedal and pop's aren't my thing at all and it could be worth vastly more than what I think. It should be pretty easy to tune as it does look like the PW50/ QT50 engine but without shaft so bits and tuning knowledge are available - they're pretty much unburstable in standard form as well.

My mate sold a camino that had 900 miles on it, it was a little neglected and needed a light resto, sold it for £250 delivered. So it would need to be cheap.

Think I need to go see the damn thing and have a good poke. Problem is these pedal and pop toys are few and far between over here in Northern Ireland. You guys get so much more choice and travelling to get one across the water isn't worth it. Will report back if I go for a peak.

Hey forde, I never realised you were from these part of the woods. I am in lurgan, so not to far away. I am in no grear rush for a pedal and pop but would really like on our at least on old scorer (possibly a melody) to do my massive half mile each way commute just the curiosity of it being a Yamaha killed me. His asking price of 300 was wild, I offered him 100 but he said he wouldn't seek for less than 200 lol. No sale.

There was a decent tomos for 250 on scumtree too not that I woulda paid that much lol I have a mate that spends a lot more time than me scouring the country for peds he might have something nice for you
