Not quite, it was based on a Honda Ballade, not an Accord. A Ballade is even rarer than an Acclaim.... Wrong though - The afore mentioned Triumph Acclaim as it was badged in Britain, shown here badged as a Honda Civic in it's U.S spec, effectively a 4dr Prelude or vice versa. (The Ballade came later, superceeding the Acclaim/Civic1, and was twinned with the Rover 213). Ermm, you sure? I actually remember seeing some as a kid badged as a Ballade. The Ballade you mentioned was the 2nd model using that name. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Ballade

I have never seen a Talbot Tagora in the wild.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Volvo 340 anyone? Sorry, need to veto you there. I still see plenty of these floating about up my end (although numbers have dwindled) and the drift scene has given them an impromptu revival...

Lovely looking cars. The statement isn't quite right though, even though it has a Civic family-look styling to it. Prelude was not the Civic Coupe, nor was it the Accord Coupe. Prelude Mk1 used its own chassis, fitted with Accord suspension, engine, transmission, etc. It was in fact wider than Accord Mk1 range. Might have shared some switchgear and other gubbins though

Sorry we're diverting the thead so much with the Acclaim debate. It's amazing Honda bothered to reskin the Civic sedan to create the near identical Ballade in the first place. They already had created the Quint(et) 5-door hatch as the true Prelude 'sedan'; both completely rebodied Civic sedan based floorpans with Accord 1600/1751cc drivetrains... Shows how overlooked all these cars are. With the first Civic & Accord really catapulting Honda into the big time as benchmark products and virtually setting themselves up for life in the States.
