I do not get the point of this thread. Well, the OP was marveling at the spackers who delete a perfectly functional part of their vehicle in the name of Teh Stylez... My favourite is our friend with the Corsa, in love with his own unfinished work... and then we wonder why other countries laugh and point. *takes pistol, blows off own head* Nice to see your a hypocrite too. The springs on your skoda were perfectly functional, but you cut them for "Teh Stylez" Anyway back on topic. I removed the rear wiper on the micra mainly for weight saving

The wife to be hates it, always going on about how silly and useless I've made it but she drives a mx5 and still hasn't noticed the lack of rear wiper on it even thou you can see nothing out the back

If you go faster than anybody else there's no need to look back. So you can also *delete* the mirrors and the taillights in favor of weight loss or teh stylez

Sorry to have caused such a shitstorm...was a genuine post and question .so, for looks or weight saving? Toying with the idea on my '24 but seems quite practical to use it!

I think it looks much smoother without the wiper. You might have to wash your car more, but that's not really a bad thing.

*PLEASE NOTE*
I am 100% for removing/smoothing parts of your car for weight saving, aesthetic or other reasons. I did this with the side repeaters, aerial and rear spoiler on my MX5.
Using the term 'delete', however, PLEASE??

It isn't about clearing rain but the tendency for many vehicles these days to drag the spray thrown up onto the back window. My daily does it in horrendous fashion.

Thanks for the replies ...just thinking aloud here, I can appreciate the asthetics/smooth look but the weight loss??...can you actually in all honesty notice a difference?? Weight wise it all adds up. Wiper motors, lock solenoids, door cards, rear seats, even unnecessary loom is dead weight when only kilos count. Think about it. 850 kilo car, for example, shave 50-60 kilos off that in trim, wiring, heater, oe front seats, wiper motor, that's a lot of weight. My xg30 would be rapid if it wasn't stuffed full with ac leather and motors.

Weight saving doesn't bother me for a road car, but I still removed the rear wiper, motor and tailgate locks from my Micra. It looks better smooth without all the clutter. The only thing with this car is that the washer nozzle comes through the rear screen, but being black, it's not very noticeable.
When stripping my friend's Audi A3 coupé for racing, you would not believe the amount of weight saved by taking all the unnecessary items off. He even mixed hydrogen into the paint to make the car lighter*.
*Possibly not true.

Done it on a few of mine, cleans the lines up and is another way of making the car yours and often better than adding stuff which can often look poor. Also one less thing to go wrong. Did it on the Porsche along with a spoiler REMOVAL for cleaner lines (slightly undid it all with charity stickers mind)

This thread needs a picture. Have one of my old corsa b which I cleaned and smoothed by deleting it(welded up,no fibreglass here.) so shouldn't of sold this loved the unfinished look of this. cleans the rear end by far, didn't really need a rear wiper as the spoiler deflected most of the rain This picture looks very familiar. DA postcode?
