I'll need to hit YouTube and see how they work, I can't understand how I'm suposed to use that. Normal spring compresors for McPherson struts don't work, they are simply not up to the job (not strong enough and may bent or may slip off due to the deformation the spring goes through when compressing/decompressing!!!!). Well, I was neither hurt nor killed but I've probably spent enough on buying replacement curse word compressors to have made the proper Mercedes compressors seem like great value. Oh, and I managed to cut the brake line while cutting the failed spring compressor out. The car was off the road for about a week with all the mucking around.

Did you get the leaky rad sorted? Why yes indeed! Thanks for asking, totaly forgott about that I think it was combination of a old hose (badly squeezed) & weak hose clamp. I've chnaged a lot of springs - I still have huge respect and always try to keep my head behind the strut, even with the genuine MB tool... Worst job was the turbodiesel springs with the thickest (4 point) rubber springs. Jesus christ, what a royal pain in the bunghole... as said, the spring compressors from eBay etc. are solid, mine has changed a lot of six cylinder springs so far and didn't collapse Cheers, Jan

I'll need to hit YouTube and see how they work, I can't understand how I'm suposed to use that. Let this guy be your guide Of course he's demonstrating it with a short 4-cylinder lowering spring... Stock 6-cylinder springs are a lot more fiddly and longer. as said, may need to losen the strut on top to wiggle long spring out...

stumped as to what that is... I think a picture explains it best: Storage box for the driver's personal belongings The blind is missing a piece, but it's enough to hide what's in there from unwanted views And whilst I was taking the opportunity to vacuume the car a bit, I thought why not take a snap from the original Taxi rubber floor mats. Sadly the two pieces for the front, for driver & passenger's footwell, are missing. They put a lot of thought in those Taxis to make them withstand decades of abuse by thousands of people Cheers, Jan

Soo - since the other roof sign was intended to be used with a limousine and didn't attach - I thought I'd be a clever kunt and just buy a roof sign that fits the holders I have. And so I won this for 10€. It cleares the roof rails - the suction cup could even be shortened a little to make it sit straight. So far, so good. Makes it look like a real Taxi But you may have allready guessed it - NOPE. Just to make things a bit more complicated than they have to - there are multiple version of roof sign holders... HNNGH! I'll look for another holder or I modify the one I have, it's not too far off after all. Cheers, Jan

It didn't stop raining - but I had to load some wheels & tyres for mounting anyway... So quickly parked in the carport and took out the drill & rivet gun. Et voilá: The holder needs a bit tinkering with to make it sit level. Need to drill two rivets and extend it a bit, too lazy for that right now. Cheers, Jan

Both sides actually Reason being; I might be accused of runing an illegal Taxi with a "Taxi" roof sign - worst case I would have to proofe I'm not... You know, there's a law & punishment for everything in Joymoney So why not - run a FAXI

LOL! So I was at the scrap yard today, to get a wiring loom for the extra loud fanfare horns... While I was stripping out the wiring loom, some guy approached me "taksi - you taksi". I was like "no no, no taxi!" - he insisted that I was Taxi "you train, I wait". *well whatever*. I exchanged some translations for parts he was after and on I went... When I was finished, I returned to the car, just parked outside the scrap yard. Guess who was waiting there with a big grin? And before I could say a word he put a tenner in my hand "train, you me train!" Needless to say I happily drove him the whole 3km to the train station That's the fuel bill payed for today There's much fun to be had with a Faxi - you should get one!
