So I just realized that I have been a member here for a while, made a couple posts, but that't it. I never even introduced myself or my car. Here goes.... My name is Justin, I am in the US, in San Antonio, Texas and have a few toys, my favorite being my 1984 Trabant 601S - I also am the administrator of www.TrabantForums.com. So as a shameless plug, if you have a Trabi or other IFA car, please join TrabantForums, it's free and has a lot of awesome info on it! Here are some pictures of my Trabant - My 1984 Trabant 601SI also have a: 1991 Mini Cooper - John Cooper Ed. and a 1953 Kreidler K50 Moped (Oldest Known Kreidler in the U.S.) Anyway, I recently got a lot of maintenance work done to my car, recently put a new brake master cylinder on it and ordered a lot of parts from TrabantWelt as they ship to the US, so next I will replace all the wheel cylinders and brakes. I also just bought all the brackets so my exhaust hangs correctly. I have a 1987 Trabi I am also doing work on before it goes to its new home in Canada next month! I do not have photos of that one. I did want to ask about parts vendors though. Right now the only 3 I know of who will ship to the US are TrabantWelt, Danzer Autoteile and LDM-Tuning. Does anyone know of any others?

To get the Mini I traded my MGB, I've always like Euro cars. Being in Texas, they have an outlook similar to you Arizona family. If it's not a huge truck a lot of people won't drive them. My wife and I both have VW's for our daily drivers.

Hello Justin, I am also on your forum as well, do Reich Tuning.de ship to the US? Yes you are....I also think you're the only 1.1 on TrabantForums....I always forget about Reich....I believe they will ship, but I don't know how they compare on pricing. The GBP and the Euro are both worth a lot more than the USD.

Texas!! This site is just for us British folk. Hah. Just kidding. I just joined here myself. I'd never even heard of a Trabant. Cool car. Some amazing projects going on here. Thanks for sharing.

It's surprising how many European cars were sold in the states that we don't know about. One of my cousins has a Peugeot 405 Mi16, looks mental with the big federal-spec bumpers and side marker lights. He lived over here for a while and I got him into Peugeots, when he got back he drove from where he lives in Boston to Iowa in a recovery truck to pick it up because they're so rare. I'm not great with US geography but I think that's 1500-2000 miles

I'm not great with US geography but I think that's 1500-2000 miles You're probably close to right on the mileage from Boston to Iowa....Something like 1100-1200 miles...It's not close.....The state of Texas is 879 miles across and I'm right in the middle.....nevertheless there are a quite a few Euro cars people forget are here. Now my Mini and Trabant weren't sold here....They sold Mini's stateside from I think '59 until the mid 60's---Mine was brought over by a service member and he bought it in Bavaria, Germany (although we all know it's really from the UK).....Obviously the Trabant was not sold in the US, mine came from Hungary. Renault and Peugeot and even Opels were sold here for a while in the mid -last 70's to the mid 80's---We also had Merkur for a while.....they just didn't do well...If you get past the mid-80's then odds are either someone brought the car back from Europe with them at some point OR it may have come in through Canada..... We JUST got Fiat back in the states after about 20 years and MG and Truimph left in ~1980 and haven't been heard from over here since. Our car rules are silly and I don't understand how we can sell something like a Chevy Cobalt and not an MGF (older but I love them) or the MG3

I know you got the Hillman Avenger as well, rebadged a Plymouth Cricket, and the Dodge Omni was a rebadged Talbot Horizon.
