1982 Seat Fura 900/L by KGF Classic Cars, on Flickr
SOLD / 01733 425140 / 07976 935046 / sales@kgfclassiccars.co.uk / Peterborough / SOLD
A rare one owner Seat Fura 900/L (Fiat 127) with just 7,993 miles from new.
EQUIPMENT
Laminated windscreen, absorbent elastic fenders, collapsible steering column, two speed windscreen wipers, headlamp adjustment under bonnet, Mylar flashing, side mouldings, hubcaps, rear view mirror with night drive, cigar lighter, parcel shelf, two speed ventilator, opening front quarter windows, courtesy lamp, dashboard shelf, soft material steering wheel, shelf on propeller shaft tunnel, trip counter, warning gauges, handgrips in roof.
EXTERIOR
This miraculously well preserved Seat Fura is presented in completely unrestored original condition. The factory original Bianco Corfu paintwork (code 224) is remarkably bright and boasts a pure uniform finish. A few small touched in stone chips have been attended to by the only owner in a novice fashion, most notably on the bonnet do not spoil the quaint appeal of this quirky little car. A lifetime in Spain at the owners retirement home has allowed this cherished example to remain completely factory fresh, even under the arches. The grey bumpers and trims sections are perfectly intact and free from damage or scuff marks, and the correct badges and ‘Fura’ decals are immaculate and exactly as the manufacturer intended. The Spanish supplying dealer sticker remains in the rear screen. An immensely rare vehicle in wonderful preserved order.
INTERIOR
The comfortable and functional interior of this brilliant example is incredible. The seats upholstered in Nevada Beige Fabric are pristine and have remained completely free from wear. The seat structure and padding is perfect and the fabric has no tears or rips whatsoever. The front seats having been covered from new show slightly more colour than the rear bench, where only minor fading can be seen upon close inspection. Matching door cards and colour scheme carpets remain in pristine order, with even the factory protective plastic covering to the carpets remaining visible in some areas! The headlining whilst intact has become unseated towards the front screen. All instruments housed in the perfect soft finish dash operate seamlessly. Even the cigar lighter is unused, providing just a small insight to the original owner’s care and little use of his beloved Seat!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Sharing almost all mechanical components with its Fiat 127 sister car, the water cooled single camshaft engine of 903cc displacement produces 40hp at 5,800 rpm and 63Nm of torque at 3000rpm allowing a top speed of 80mph and 0-60mph in a fairly spritely 19.6 seconds!. The engine promptly bursts into life upon the first turn of the key and is whisper quiet. The 4-speed gearbox with synchromesh on all gears is light and changes are pleasingly direct. All mechanical equipment, having been fully recommisoned as a precaution is characteristic of the wonderfully low mileage covered. An absolute delight.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory original unrestored pressed steel wheels still clearly present the manufacturer stamps and numbers, the definition of which is often lost upon refurbishment. The immaculate hubcaps remain fitted and wheels are shod in brand new 135/80 R13 tyres. The twin circuit hydraulic braking system incorporates discs up front and rear drums to offer ample stopping power and safety assurance.
HISTORY FILE
This tremendous example was registered new in Torre Del Mar, Spain on 22 December 1982 to the first and only ever keeper, expatriate Mr Thomas Koeller. Mr and Mrs Koeller kept the vehicle at their retirement residence and have been unfaltering in the care and maintenance of this fascinating well preserved car. The history file contains many Spanish documents and official papers. Upon Mr Koellers passing in 2013, his son Mr Peter Koeller rather than risk the cars uncertain fate made the necessary shipping arrangements to the UK. Prior to shipping, the car went to the local Seat dealer for a full check over. Upon receiving the car in the UK and following UK registration, Mr Koeller Junior embarked upon a full service and renewal of maintenance components to ensure complete readiness for regular use, and even completed an event free five hour trip to visit family! V5 registration document and an original sales brochure complete the history file.
This fantastic vehicle is the epitome of the ‘dare to be different’ classic car movement and poses huge appeal for the collector. Simple mechanics and excellent shared parts availability with its Fiat counterpart offers reliable and frugal classic motoring, and an undoubted show pleasing appeal.
