mk2 escort van wings, what is the difference fom saloon ones

hi, I'm replacing a wing on my mk2 van and the wings are mega expensive compared to the saloon ones. does anyone know the difference between the two as my body work guy says it will probably be cheaper to modify a saloon one. cheers in advance : )

The mk2 estate/van is a mk1 shell from the bulkhead back so the swage lines wont match on the saloon wings.

Hi, IIRC it's also different where the wing fits around the flitch panel.

As said above, the estate & vans are basically mk1 shells.

The front part of the wing is the same as a mk2 escort and the rear part is the same as a mk1 escort, so it will match the door, and swage line etc.

You can fit mk1 wings, and turn it into a mk1 van, get a cheep private plate to disguise the registration year and few folk would know!! I thought about doing this with my mk2 van, but sources a pair of wings.

Wings turn up on ebay from time to time, also ask on the escort forums.

Thanks for the replies. i have throught about turning it into a mk1 but its not for me. ill just try and save the old wing as its going into the body shop after the weekend. : )

my mate has a mk2 escort estate and he has just put some mk1 mexico wings on it, don't know how difficult this was but looks great
