So, after a year of ownership i've decided to get rid of my 1996 Xantia Activa, solely because I have bought an MX5 and cannot afford to run 2 cars.
For the unfamiliar this is why this car is not the run of the mill Xantia: www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=29323
Also this:
Bought from a chap on the French Car Forum a year ago in Ipswich who was a massive Citroen nut, had 13 of them, his previous for sale thread is here: www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=44427
As you can see from this ownership, it has had lots of the important activa mechanicals seen to in recent years, which is why I bought it in the first place. I'm pleased to report it has been virtually flawless in its time with me, the only work i've had to do is solve an LHM leak, which involved reconnecting some rear return piping which had come apart. Aside from this, it hasn't missed a beat.
Mileage: 114320
MOT until: 23rd April 2015
Tax until: 30th November 2014
If driven carefully, then the book figures for MPG can be beaten, i've had 30mpg out of it.
Sunroof, A/C, Velour interior.
The only thing I have done to remove the car from it's standard condition is to fit a mechanical boost valve for added go. Great modification this, gives the sort of power the activa should have had from the factory (~170bhp according to the french car forum). Set properly with a gauge to 12psi, which isn't in the car but hooked up temporarily to check the pressure. Another mod which was performed by a previous owner was to return the xantia to the "proper" citroen brake feeling, ie removing the spring setup replaced with a solid link.
Only two bad points to mention, the dent in the rear wing from previous ownership is still present and rust is coming through in the common place above the sill in the rear door shuts which are pictured.
Overall this is a nice clean example, which I will regret selling! The price is £650 ONO and the car is situated at Scotch Corner, North Yorkshire. It is available for viewing weekends and evenings. Any questions please do ask. Tel No: 07505663469.
