Ok guys I have had a lot of problems with air leaks! to start with I had more leaks than a net balloon! got it down to leaking like the titanic! I now have it nearly sorted but still a few minor leaks. can you ever get a 100% leak free setup? I have now just put 50 psi in each bag and have 50 psi in the tank and will check in an hour what has leaked from the setup. Thanks

Like what your doing with this !!
You need to get it leak free , any leaks & the compressor will be running to long & burn out .
I work on landrovers & have seen plenty of air leaks turn into ruined compressors !

thanks, agreed will try and get it leak free, and some of it is already its just about done. I have the compressor on a manual switch anyway I know some people are running 200 psi in the tank? why? I get good fast results with just 80 psi.

Ok, bit of a update on what's happening with the Esprit! had the MOT booked on Thursday and was running around like a headless chicken trying to get everything ready for the first drive to the MOT Station! headlights have been playing up so took the lift relays out when I managed to get them both up. Brakes have been a major pain getting bleed, and never really got it 100% and also the odd electrical item randomly plays up but if it fails at least I have a list of things to put right? 10 mins before I am ready to go I find out I have no reverse gear! fookin great! so franticly adjust the cable and get it working! off to the MOT! driving out the drive for the first time was pretty nerve wrecking, my was twitching like a rabbits nose with horrible thoughts of things going wrong and being stranded! I was right to be worried! the brakes were not working pedal was hardish but it would not stop the car just coasting it slowly like the brakes are made of wood! other than that it was going well.....got about a mile down the duel carriage way and the temp gauges is at meltdown and I have steam coming out the back! yes another fukc sake moment and I pull it over to the side of the road. Really miffed at all the hassle this car has to give me. Turns out one of the water hoses has a cut due to it rubbing on the crank pulley, when I finally got the car to the MOT it failed on the brakes no surprise! they are only working at 43% and hand brake at 13% and a indicator not working. The drive home was interesting........only just made it! the brakes were binding and by the time I got to my road I had to use the torque of the v8 to push it home! the brakes were nearly seized on, even the clutch had smoke coming out the gearbox. All the stuff dreams are made of NOT! On the plus side, they guys at the MOT station gave the car a big thumbs up and really liked the engine install, and the mods done to the car, I also don't need to use first gear! and this car doesn't turn heads it snaps necks! no waiting at junctions people let me out! Indicator now fixed, pushrod in servo now adjusted so no more binding it appears my new replacement master cylinder was different than the old one. So just have to bleed the brakes again and sort out the handbrake. Rob

Passed the MOT today well chuffed I can drive it now and reap the rewards of all the hard work, all the despair and agony we go through, willing ourselves to keep at it and wishing the car to be finished, thinking the day will never come when we can actually drive it and enjoy it. Really stoked it drove to the MOT station without a break down! and driving it home was awesome. That engine has so much power the torque its great just pulls like a train and the sound is fantastic I will never need a stereo, plenty still to do sorting out all the teething problems but its all down hill now.

In terms of leaks what have you used as a sealant on your threads?
I've had leaks when using gas ptfe tape but in my latest setup I used loctite 508 and it's been spot on.
And for the push to fit connectors use a proper plastic hose cutter for straight cuts and ensure hose is pushed right the way into the connector. (Oh and some ptf connectors are rated at a lower PSI)

(Oh and some ptf connectors are rated at a lower PSI) I have tried both types of sealer, the ptfe tape and wrapped the correct way so not to unwind and a loctite 572 fluid which was expensive and takes days to dry which has worked on many of the joints but the time waiting really sucks! I do have a special cutting tool. I do not use the push in fittings as I found them to be total wibblepoo! except the ones already fitted to my valve block which do work ok? I have most of the leaks sorted now just one on the rear still to do. Have done it twice now but it still keeps leaking so may just buy another fitting and try again. I have also been using spray on soapy water to find the leaks with the bubbles that works great even finds the smallest of leaks. The biggest problem I find is the NPT thread fittings, buying different types from different suppliers I have found some don't go together as well almost as if the thread is not the same? will look into getting some 508 and try some on that persitant rear leak! still got loads of little jobs to sort out but its great to get out and have some fun! Thanks

Well done sir, are we going to see this at The Gathering? I am taking it to brands hatch on the 17th for the lotus festival, I will most likely tow it with my A-frame most of the way as I don't quite trust it 100% to do a 140 mile drive! and would love to go to the gathering if time and money allows me too. Its a possibility I will confirm in a week or so.

Strange about the threads - npt should be npt - wonder if some have sent bst in error. Just checked it's actually 577 I used not 508 but that is 30 minute wait for full seal so it's not long to wait and test and retest etc. yeah the spray soap is what I use too - simplest things do best. Good look in sorting last ones - I did notice that the red pipe seems to curve into the valve block a bit which can cause a slight leak rather than straight in so could be a problem but if they've tested them you might be okay, unless they're leaking with movement when you're driving?

Looks awesome.
NPT threads are normally made to standard, but always worth checking someone hasn't sold something as NPT when its really BSP or line pipe thread. They look pretty similar but don't seal together.

Drove to work today in the Esprit, very interesting.........2 people thought it was a Lamborghini!! most people didn't have a clue and had never seen one before and a few knew exactly what it was but had no idea that the engine was not original? also my first drive in the dark and wet! no dash board lights! the headlights did work if you can call them working? and the back end was like driving on ice. If she keeps going with no major break downs could be my daily driver from now on (only local trips for now).

I did take it out again tonight with the candle power headlights and no dash lights it was worth the risk of a breakdown! just so I could rag it around town. The sound is so addictive I just wanted to go around and around.........V8 soundtrack AWESOME!
