Thinking of doing HID conversion on mine eventually but need to get all the other jobs done first. I do remember though that the indicator/dip beam switch in the esprit is weak (they burn out unless you add an additional relay) so I think that would also need changing? A relay is never a bad thing, but HID's are less power than std headlamps (mine are 36w) dipped beam is 55w so the std stalk should be fine. A relay of course would ensure its fine

I went under the car to tighten the fan belt and noticed some CV grease splatters around one drive shaft? first I thought the boot may have a split? but when I checked I found 2 of the bolts had missing heads? WTF! they have sheared off? I know the V8 has plenty of torque but really? I have know replaced the full set with HT 12.9 grade bolts, which as far as I know originally are also 12.9? all torque down and checked painted so I can keep an eye on any moving! anyone else had any issues with bolts breaking? the guy at Allfix said it may have been down to age of the bolts and who knows how many times they have been undone and done up?

Yea, they do distort if used a lot, and can fracture at that exact part. Once one goes, the rest are under additional strain.
I don't see you having any issues with replacements. Did you run a drop of loctite in there too?

Had a good read through Rob, great work. From experience I know how difficult every job on these cars can be. A job that should take 30 mins ends up taking 4 hours sat in the poring rain rolling about in the s$&t! I noticed on the RRG midlands thread that you have overheat issues? Have they bee resolved? Dean

Dean thanks, yeah its been fun! no still have issues have brought some fans to go in the engine bay and will redo a few things but just don't have the time at the moment! will have to tow it with my A-frame as it could never do a 140 mile road trip! its been raining the last 3 days which has not helped......see you at the gathering. Really enjoyable thread. Esprit has always been a firm favourite but dodgy leg and generous proportions mean I'm unlikely to realise the ownership dream. Looking forward to seeing at RRG on Sunday.

was great to meet up with you guys at the gathering! look forward to doing it again next time hope to drive the Esprit and not tow it! Will be working hard and getting all the little issues sorted. The main problem is heat in the engine bay and getting good cold air in and the nasty hot air out! I plan to make the side scoops (ears) wider as in sticking out more to scoop more air in. I also have brought some fans to mount in the engine bay. Also will be making a louvred rear hatch window like on the turbo but mine is going to be clear and adjustable. I got some window louvre frames today as used in greenhouses and taken them apart and offered one side section up to the hatch glass. Looks like this has potential to make the adjustable rear louvre I want. I have some Polycarbonate to make the glass slats and window with and could fit a cable or a rod linkage to open and close it?

If I remember rightly, the Lamborghini Murcielago's side vents open dependant on engine temperature so would be a thousand times as awesome if the Esprit could do a similar thing too
