Oh I see so hoses then. I've used edging strip and carefully cut it to fit in holes as well as slicing hose longways to do the same thing. Looks like it's going to be fun when it's finished.

Yeah ill see what I can do. There's no real danger there or it cutting through. It was finished a long time ago. I'm just tidying bits up now.

I got the holes cut larger, painted it up and fitted the grommets. Fed the pipes through and routed it nicely. The header still needs a permanent bracket but its secure for now. Started it up and its all good with no leaks. I'm going a different route with my wheels now, I'm not going to tell you all though as i know its not been done before and i still need to work it all out. But for now the 13's are for sale, the 14's are to be painted and new tyres as it needs an MOT. After tyres removed Step 1 wash wheels. Step 2 try some paints to see how they could look. They will be getting sandblasted and painted properly. I think I'm swaying to the white and black.

Black steels always tend to work, the others could be cool too. Keen to see what you go for that's not been done before though.
I think I know what it might be, I've had an idea for wheels that haven't been done on a 5 and it could be the same/similar

I have 2 ideas, I need to do a bit more design work though. If i tell you ill find that its been done. So its only in my head atm.

I made some progress on taking the campus hubs off today. Found that my top hats have had a battering Also I knew the springs i had were short and for shorter shocks, but i didnt realise just how short they were. Ill have to zip tie the springs in to stop them falling when jacked up. The blue springs seem like they're not actually for a 5 so I cant use them. Also painted the 14's in the whites I have. They have different shades and they all look pretty rough. But they will do for now. Next I need to get some tires for them, I can get 155 55 14's nankangs for them. Just need to crack off the bottom ball joint and the hubs can come off.

What's the width and ET of those steels?

Has anyone else fitted phase 2 shocks and springs without the special top mounts like I did to lower their 5 ? You end up with quite a large drop but no problems with ill fitting springs but still have lots of suspension travel.
The phase 2 had modified strut tops to lessen torque steer I think. The only problem is that you have to modify one of the shock to hub bolt holes to make them fit and get the correct camber angle.
Should have said but the springs you have might be phase 2 turbo ones which are shorter for the above reasons..

They're clio steels. 5.5j et 37 I think. Has anyone else fitted phase 2 shocks and springs without the special top mounts like I did to lower their 5 ? When I bought the springs they did state for shortened shocks only, but I'm still using them. They have a different pig tail to the blue ones, the yellow ones fit the mounts but the blue ones don't. The main reason I'm changing the hubs is to accommodate gtt shocks, its all added bonus as i can have the brakes, shocks and new bearings. I don't need the phase 2 top mounts unless I want camber. We will see how it goes when its all bolted up and stuffed into a corner.

I might have misunderstood but I thought if you use phase 2 shocks and hubs you would need to fit the matching top mounts. I used standard campus hubs, phase 2 shock and springs and campus top mounts. Like this you can only get one of the two strut to hub bolts fitted and you have to modify one. To be honest it's all so long ago now the memory is fading a bit, see how it goes but if you get stuck and think I might be able to help give me a shout and I will have a good think about it !

Well I hope that's not the case or ill be looking for phase 2 tops. When I first got these hubs I put them on with the shocks I had. I did need to modify the bottom bolt hole. But even with that it still gave me mental camber. So I'm hoping that this way will work.

I got the hubs off today. Drivers side fell off the spline. Passenger side needed alot of help with the hammer. Got it off to find this. That'll be a new driveshaft or Cv joint at least then. Problem being i cant find any for a reasonable price. Can anyone help? Also got the brake calipers swapped over, losing no fluid in the process. New bottom ball joints on aswell.

Ive painted up my hubs, and fit new bearings. One of them isnt quite right and has play so I'm putting a new one in. Got 2 rears on today aswell. I used my 10mm spacers and on new tyres, 155 55 14's I think it fits perfectly on the rear like this. Bled the brakes to a point aswell and threw fluid everywhere. The good news is that my brakes don't leak after being rebuilt and having the nipples drilled out and refitted. Ive been having trouble getting the shocks in the hubs, but none of that can go on till ive got a new bearing in one of them and the new shaft is in. Driveshaft is out ready for the new one aswell. Lost all my gearbox fluid dropping that off.

Got a new driveshaft, its a bit rotten though. It will be ok but it will need a good cleaning. Also removed most of the broken bearing for a retrial of a fit.

Th driveshaft cleaned up nicely. Got the bearing shell out and new one in. Then I bolted up 1 side Made progress on the other side, I just need a top hat welding and i can put it back together. Also ordered the tyres for the fronts. So it shouldnt be to long now till its on all four wheels. I'm getting excited about driving it again.

Got the gearbox fluid back in today. Take note. 1 metre of hosepipe 1 lucozade bottle 1 sock (for wiping spillages) 1 metre of silicone hose 1 Vac Pouring it in was taking forever, so i put silicone hose on the breather and created a vacuum with the vac to draw it in. Worked a treat. Got my last 2 tires today aswell, so when i can the 2 fronts will get fitted. The rest is done. The car is nearly finished. All this spending means i cant get it on the road till next month though. And ive got time to sort these out and get the spacers/adapters made up.

Actually i havnt done as much as i thought i had. I tried to get my central locking working again, but gave up trying to graft a second unit in. Made a nice copper catch tank pipe. The cooling still needs work as its got pretty hot a couple of times and needed bleeding. I don't think the location of the header is letting the cap expand how it wants. Those wheels are no longer pink either. I'm still deciding on a colour.
