Today is going to be one of those days I'm going to regret, but something has come up that I need to raise money for, so I'm putting my entire collection of Alpine audio up for sale.
I've been building this collection for over 20 years and you'll definitely not find another collection like this for sale. This isn't your typical 'run of the mill' car audio, this really is the high end gear from an era of car audio sound quality that will never be repeated again. I can go into more details about this if needed, but suffice to say, what you see here really is the top end of the car audio market and the perfect addition to any car.
Buy this as a job lot and make some good money...or hang onto it for a while and make even more money, these head units are legendary now and prices are only going to climb.
I estimate there is over £1,500-£1,800 of head units here if sold separately. You can buy the whole lot for just £600 OVNO! If they don't sell by the weekend I'm going to hang onto them even longer and make the money myself.
Have a massive load of photos to start with:
Here is a basic list of the units:
(Top left): 3331 - 11 band graphic equalizer. In very good condition and very sought after - one of these sold in the States recently for £140.
(Middle left): The three essential control/tuner/slave boxes for the three CD Shuttles (2x 7980 and 1x 5980)
(Bottom left): 7915M - singe CD. This is missing the wiring loom and the cage, but I did test this perviously and was all working. It wouldn't be hard to cobble a wiring loom together for this. With wiring, estimated value around £150
(Top middle): 7618R - Absolutely legendary cassette deck and one of the most sought after Alpine head units. Full electric control, CD changer control, AMAZING sounds. This is fully tested and working but is now missing the wiring loom (I used the loom from my other, since sold, 7618R to test it). There's a spare Alpine loom as part of the job lot that could easily be adapted to work with this. With the loom sorted, this is, conservatively, a £150 unit in this condition with virtually no button wear, probably more more like £200...it really is that top end!
(Middle middle): 7906R - single disc CD player with a superb sound...one of the most popular CD players made by Alpine. Not the absolute top of the tree (that's the 7909) but just slightly down. If I tell you that 7909's exhange hands for many hundreds and the 7909j selling for more than £1,000 these days, it'll be no surprise to you that this is worth £200+ in good condition and fully working (which this is)
(Bottom middle): 7294R - Cassette deck with CD changer controls. Another top unit which is in fantastic conditon and in perfect working order. Amazing sound from the cassette and also the function to control a changer, this was cutting edge in its day. Current value, easily £150 in this condition.
(Top right): 5980 - A slave unit that can be hooked up to another 'master' unit like the 7618R. This is an amazing, amazing bit of kit being a '3D' in-dash changer. So far ahead of its time, this will look so perfect as part of a 'stack' of Alpine audio in a high end car. The system has been fully tested and the mechanism is in full working order. Because it's been stood so long, the laser lens will need a clean and it does struggle to read CD's at the moment. With a clean, this would be an amazing addition to any high end retro build. Watching the CD changer mechanism work is an absolute joy! Once the CD lens has had a clean, this will be worth £200+ They really are very rare.
(Middle right): 7980M - One of the greatest head units ever made. Alpines absolute TOP END electronics with Burr Brown DA converter and every bit of technology Alpine could throw at it. The same internals as a 7909 but with the addition of a 3 disc changer, all in one single din headunit. Tested and fully working, this is a super rare bit of kit that not only looks the part, but also sounds utterly sublime when hooked up to a set of amps and great speakers. Even more so if given the justice of an active crossover network. You can find untested ones for less (obviously) but in full working order, this is definitely worth £250+. This comes with FOUR CD cartridges, the original remote control, all wiring, orignal box etc...it really is the complete package.
(Bottom right): Another 7980M - this one, like the 5980, needs a lens clean but has been tested and is in full working order otherwise. All there with box, remote control, three CD cartridges....once it's had a lens clean it's worth £250+.
There's also a load of other parts included in this 'job lot' like another cassette deck from the 90's. In superb condition, this isn't as sought after as any of the above stereos but it's all working, it's a high end cassette unit with changer control and comes boxed with face plate box, intructions, original receipt (£199) etc...
There's also a spare laser mechanism that will fit any of the CD units should one of them fail. This was tested and fully working, so perfect as a spare for any of the above CD players. On top of that, there's a Clarion amplifier and some wiring.
Overall this is a massive and unique package of truly outstanding audio. £600 OVNO takes the lot. Collection from Bristol or I will post at cost (including full insurance) which I estimate to be around £40 because it'll weigh a hell of a lot.
I also have a load of super high end and very rare amps, component speakers and other amazing top end audio stuff (like an active crossover network) from this era. Please contact me if you're interested in any of these items?
