Thanks for the comment, I havent changed my rollers yet as I am waiting for the sports exhaust project to be complete so I can tune the CVT to work with the higher revving engine. In theory unless your rollers are far too light it shouldn't affect your top speed all that much, more so acceleration and picking up revs! My variator tops out at 15mph (the rest it the engine rising in rpm) so it can't really affect the top speed of the NX50 at least. If you are down on speed though, check your drive belt, I have heard when they get worn with age they start to get thinner, which lowers the over all gearing decreasing top speed! I am looking to get a wider than standard belt for mine once it is tuned up as I am hoping for 45mph! Aye both belt and rollers are on my to do list, and pulling he restrictor plate from the variator as well... currently tops out about 27-8mph but its got near 8500 on the clock and I doubt its ever been changed lol.

Pictures as promised! Late as always! Got the origional exhaust off. Both exhausts on the work bench! Hacked off the old down pipe (to fit the exhaust port, the old silencer was promptly thrown in the bin). Cut off the downpipe to the new exhaust, and cut slots in so that we can sleave the exhausts together and clamp it all up. (My angle grinding skills aren't the best... lol!) Clamped the exhausts together with a seat clamp from a pushbike, which works pretty well, custom fabricated an exhaust hanger from an old bottle dynamo bracket and this was the finished product! The strap is just to help support the end can, top speed has shifted from 28mph on the flat to 35mph on the flat, more tuning to come though, need a bigger carb, tune the variator and then get ready for a 70cc kit!

Long time since i posted on your thread, has the Charade gone to the scrapyard in the sky? Also i noticed you mentioned the carb on the golf needing a rebuild, before you do this if you haven't already, then check the code on it, might has a NOS v.a.g one in my pile of parts.

Long time no see! (or hear... haha). I haven't heard anything from the guys who bought the charade but I am assuming they will not repair it The Golf will be back in the picture soon as we are hoping to get it welded up before Christmas, but I am still in desperate need of a carb rebuild kit along with an ignition system overhaul. The carb is a Pieburg 2E2 I think!

Wow a brand new carb? Now that would be awesome, I am sure it would be a great help to making my car run like new again, let me know if you find it! As for the boot panel that looks interesting, I have never seen one before, my friend who I am restoring my golf with is restoring a GTI... How much would you want for the panel? Might show him it!

Yeah I should be at my parents where my VW stuff is stored through the week so ill check what carbs I have. As for the backflash, I wouldn't know how to price it, i've seen 1 other on a golf rallye and that was a picture, it is brand new although 2 or 3 mounting tabs have been broken off the back in storage unfortunately. I have pictures of it in photobucket with the mounting template if you want me to post those.

BIG UPDATE GUYS!
I have been using the silver civic as a daily for a while now after my girlfriend replaced it with her Saab 900, I feel the civic is a little too new for my taste and with the Golf being away at a friends I don't have enough retro in my life. The civic is currently for sale, with someone hopefully coming to have a look at it on Sunday. I was searching through gumtree locally (always a bad idea) and came across this... Its a 1993 VW Polo 86CF (MK2F) Genesis 1.05 litre 4 speed! 2 owners from new, a few rust spots here and there, a dent in the rear quarter, but only 58,000 miles! Mechanically this beast is sound and the interior is as new, the car is totally original, the perfect new daily! Apart from, it has a blown head gasket... lol. I have the head gasket set on order, and will update the thread this weekend. ALSO. I have arranged a share in an industrial unit where I am going to keep my projects, so with somewhere nice to work on them expect for some awesome updates soon!

Hello all, Someone stole my NX50 last night around 01:00, a neighbour tried to chase them down the street but couldn't get the reg of the car they drove off in, after posting on the stolen part of this site and on social media, I had someone spot it outside a petrol station not too far away, unfortunately I didn't get the message until 06:00 by then it was long gone. I reported it to the police and my insurance as soon as I had found out it went missing, then another message popped up on facebook saying that someone had spotted it burnt out at a play park not too far away, unfortunately I was at work by then, so I informed the police and informed my girlfriends dad about its location, he picked it up in his van so I have updated the police yet again and thankfully avoided the £200 recovery charge. This is what Daz found. I am not sure what to do at the moment, the Police and my insurance are aware of what has happened, I really don't want to let the old girl die as apparently it still kicks over so it hasn't seized. But parts are incredibly hard to find for these little NX50s and I haven't been able to inspect the damage myself. This bike might not have looked like much to most, but I put a lot of time and effort in to getting it on the road, and it was my daily ride to work and back, it always cheered my up on a morning zipping through traffic on this thing after a rough night. And with only 7 left on the road, I doubt I will find another one

I have tried to contain my rage towards the people who think doing things like this is ok, unfortunately they also stole my much newer 2010 Sym Jet which I never wrote about on here a couple of weeks before hand, although I managed to recover that one just around the corner as it was a non runner and they dumped it. I lock them up as best I can in a terrace street, but there is nothing to lock them to!

I would say i hope they catch them but tbh nowadays its unlikely anything would happen to them anyway. Its real crappy mate but at least youve got it back in some form and can make her great again. #nojustice

Its real crappy mate but at least youve got it back in some form and can make her great again. #nojustice Thank you, the Police have been fairly helpful so far, they are doing door to door enquiries in the local area, although like you say if they did catch them I doubt anything would happen to them. Although the damage from a repair point of view is minimal considering it has been set on fire, many of the parts are simply impossible to find. Just finding an air filter element took me 3 weeks of constant searching to which I bought the last new old stock part. Shame the entire air box has now melted And being a simple little bike I can't even just fit a universal air filter an tune the carb to match as it isn't jettable Luckily I have a 1978 Honda NC50 I can get the rear light and reg plate holder from, but they don't share carbs and it has no air box! Really hope I can make something of it once again.
