Some UK friends are looking into getting me a remote unit or the BMW hydroboost, which is MUCH smaller. Now I know there are options, the pressure is off me for now. I can return the giant Chevy unit. Never much liked Chevy/GM stuff anyway.
I've taken the engine back out, the gearbox mount is finished. The engine bay fabrication is finished. Right now I am waiting on a fuel pump and I will work on other stuff until it arrives next week. I have to tie up some loose ends on the engine, vacuum lines, loom repair- lots of little stuff. Fun stuff.
I have the new door skins, even though I will only need the bottom two inches replaced. I took the spare tire carrier down and cleared out under the rear of the car. The rear diff (hope it ends up being strong enough) looks good with it's cast aluminum fins. I'll get a pic of that when I get back at it.
I am glad that the heavy fabrication is done. Only little bits here and there, and now I can get to the business of sorting out the basic engine swap details. It's going to be so swear word cool.

It went slightly above freezing today, so I hooked up the pressure washer to give this thing a good clean. It had been sitting for so long, everything had rust & dirt on it. I pulled the wheels and cleaned everything. Much better working conditions now. It's back in the garage and I'm setting up the wiring for a test fire. Should only be a few more days and hopefully we can hear the engine run. I took this picture with my phone because- it made me think out loud 1.21 Gigawatts! (Back to the future reference)

From Lextreme, I have been given the "keys" to get this to run. It seriously seems like there are only 3 wires you need, to get this engine to fire up. Plenty of earths/Ground wires, but it's basically constant hot to ECU and put in a battery, touch 2 wires together and they say it'll start. My fuel pump is on the way. If this engine is that simple to start, I am going to get out my break dancing clothes and start moonwalking all over the garage when it runs!

Looking good so far. Are you planning to paint the engine or do you have a Black/Yellow theme??

I still think strapping it to a pallet is a better idea than running it on the stand.

I still think strapping it to a pallet is a better idea than running it on the stand. Agreed. I am dropping it in the car for the test fire. However, I did see some guys start one on a El Cheapo stand, like the one I use.

Ok, it's more complicated than that. I had an issue with some incorrect wires and I'm not sure if my ECU is good. I still don't have the fuel pump, so it's not ready to fire, but I got it to turn.
I have run some continuity tests and the ECU might still be good. I totally had it wired wrong. When I followed the tips, I only put power to one side of the switch and expected magic to happen. I am seeing now, a little clearer on how to do this. As Chris pointed out- when it comes time to actually put fuel to this thing and see if the ECU works, I'm going to energize the igniters, injectors, etc with relays, like in the original vehicle.
It's beginning to make a little more sense. Without the online wiring guides, I may never have gotten those 3VZFE swapped engines to run. These have similarities, but I'm learning. Meanwhile, back at the studio...

UPDATE: I believe that the ECU is good and that it will run when I make the next attempt. Meanwhile, I stuck it back in the hole and got my headers to fit and mounted my brake servo. With parts I had laying around, total cost? Nothing. Just the way I like it. Cheap. I still have final bracing/supports on the servo and the radiator support, etc. Once the engine bay is painted and all of the lines, wires and hoses are installed, the "remote servo" won't look so out of place. I also may take a Lexus engine cover and hide it. Still waiting on that fuel pump.

VW seats are generally well made and actually comfortable.
I just shake my head at your progress.
Looking forward to fire up along with everyone else.

Very Close to final engine bay paint. All welds ground and seam sealed. This is only primer.

Credit where it's due. Once you start something, you really crack on with it, no messing around. And I love that servo setup Still wanna see this Moonwalk though!

Closer. I had a go at starting it today. No spark. Not sure. I'll keep studying the diagrams.
