A little while ago I saw an idea on a D&T teachers FB page that re-used 12" Vinyl as a trumpet to make a passive amplifier, with the source device stood in the cone of the trumpet. I thought to myself - I can do that, and as it turns out I could.
The record is heated up in an oven fitted to an MDF former - plot path drawn up and lazy cut.
It dind't work completely to plan the first couple of goes!
At this point I did a bit more research into the idea, and discovered that I hadn't just stolen the idea from the D&T forum. There is a product designer selling them!

Some nice other laser cut products there too, as well as the stand he sells with the records.
The records, although a lovely sustainability type product/project are not actually as good as I would have expected. After a little look around at other passive amplifiers I decided to have a go at something different and a bit more unique this time.
For some reason I can't get the photo bucket pics to rotate.
This works much better so the plan the next time I don't absolutely have to be working is to make something finished to a higher quality.
