I hope this is of interest to a few RetroRiders. There's quite a bit of info to digest so post your questions here or drop me a line if you need any help. Starting in January 2015 we're running a monthly sprint event at Curborough, Staffordshire. Sprints are an ideal way to get into motorsport with minimal cost and are a great way to enjoy some tracktime with modern classics. A sprint is 3 laps on a dedicated circuit, you race against the clock with no-one else on track. You get plenty of sprints throughout the day and your times are recorded. It's far less strenuous than a trackday, there's far less risk of any damage to your car and we even have a couple of half-decent prizes on offer. There's a one-off £50 fee to register, then it's £60 per each event you attend. You can come to all 12 events in 2015, or just 1, you have the same chance of winning one of two decent prizes. Caterham Cars and Morgan Motors love what we're doing and have each offered a car for a weekend for our two winners. There'll be other prizes too, this isn't an event for willy-waving Impreza drivers on crack, we want to see modern classics being driven on track by folks who want a gentle introduction to motorsport with like minded enthusiasts. I'm the chap in the 3 wheeler pictured above, setting one of the slowest lap times ever, for example All the info I think you'll need is online here: www.motorpunk.co.uk/features/sprint-series/2015-motorpunk-sprint-series/Interested, anyone?

I reckon I could join in here but during January it would probably be in the BMW with March getting me out in the Escort .

It qualifies for class H "over 2 litre" and also class H "British sportscars" I reckon I could join in here but during January it would probably be in the BMW with March getting me out in the Escort . You could do that. It's £50 per driver (and as many cars as you like), some drivers have registered two cars, one chap has registered three (!) We've had a great response, thanks, I hope to see some RRers there

That sounds really good, very interested. From the site if I'm only interested in doing a few sprints I can just pay £60/event? Also does the helmet have to conform to regs or is it the same as track days?
Not that far away either.

Yes, you could just do the odd sprint for £60 per event, but £50 gets you into the championship (and prizes). No particular regs for the helmet as long as you're happy with it. Hope to see you there!

Thats stretching the meaning of that word to the absolute limit If it wasn't getting sold early next year I'd be very tempted. We'll see what replaces it and then I may come along to a sprint or two

Is this advance bookings only or is there a certain amount of turn up on the day and hope there maybe some slots free?
I'm interested but don't know if/when I'm free until very close to the dates due to work commitments, and also need to sort out my fleet of toys too!

We expect to be pretty well booked up for most of the year, but if you send an email even the day before the event it would be a big help for the organiser. I'm sure we can squeeze you in some time. Drop us a line!
