I'd be happy with that too.
My initial thought was it was looking a bit high still, but I think the light, camera angle and lack of outer sill fool the eye somewhat.
Like you say, there's a fair bit of weight to go back on, which will bring it down on the springs.
I think you've got that about spot on. :-)

Also, those arches aren't miles out; could you maybe roll them out rather than box them?

Ha ha Excellent skills you even put the doors back on, I only hope that I can get shut lines like that when they do go back on. Funnily enough on a German Opel forum some contributed a very similar shop, and also pointed out that the centre of the wheels should make a nice line along the top of the sills. I'd never thought about that I just knew it needed to go down at the front. To guote MonzaPhil "sent from my not so secret bunker where I am painting the top bars of my cage cos if I don't CR500Dom is never gonna let me forget that he has told me to do that at least 100 times"

They'd need a lot of repair before rolling and it would have to be a substantial roll not a light massage, if I stand on the back I can make tyre hit the arch now. Plus then I couldn't use the wheels I've had tucked away for a long time so I am committed to arches.

Progress looks brilliant there.
I would say rivit/bolt arches on rally style rather than blend in. Gives it a bit meaner look i think.

Not a problem at all, I appreciate all the contributions Seems to be a majority falling for the bolt on option on arches, the only thing keeping me from leaping that way is all the plastic windows will be bolt on so it might look a bit mecano like with all the bolts. One of my goals was it shouldn't look like a scrap yard refugee Sent from my not so secret lair, paint fumes are making it rather easy to find....

Don't think it will look Meccano like to most people, certainly not any car guys. I suppose chavs might, but then they wouldn't know what the car was to begin with!
Would riveting them on make it different in your view? Thats what the rally boys do, still leaves it easy to replace if they get damaged but the rivets blend in a little more especially if painted to match the arch colour

Oh yes! Another one for bolt-on here too. curse word I'll have to get all OCD over bolt spacing and symmetry if I go down that route..... I'm not good with electrics but I'm better at that than measuring and getting it all right, you only have to look at a side picture of the Monza after I fitted plastic windows to realise that......

It's looking really good BC. Lower nearly always better but I know that's not your priority That you've got it in just the right spot with the roof bar touching means its the 'right' place. I think I'm also in the bolt-on camp for the arches. The screw/rivet spacing OCD on the windows will make it all the better. It won't look scrapyard refugee done that way, but race-car form following function.

Ha I guess you are right - lower isn't my priority for a track car - it's gotta go round corners The roof touching the cage means I can't do any more I think I'm also in the bolt-on camp for the arches. The screw/rivet spacing OCD on the windows will make it all the better. It won't look scrapyard refugee done that way, but race-car form following function. Err my worry is I feck up the spacing and it will look carp like the windows did - I think I'll have to make a template/jig to get the hole spacings the same Anyway a couple of pictures that I wasn't going to post Roof is now painted As all the top of the roll cage So I'd better crack on with welding it up once the paint is dry

I see what happens! Oh and those wheels wouldn't fit under the arches of a Monza either which is why I've never used them - kept them for this project for several years.... What really bugs me is how on earth do companies measure track anyway because these should have poked out a lot more? Anyways neither would these ones But they fit on a Monza Now In fact they could do with being wider - someone one day will share his progress
