This one isn't technically mine... although I've been "given" it by my Dad.. bit of back story..
My Dad had a Forester that he was doing nothing with.
My mates Rob and Jade wanted a Subaru for their horses, and my Dad wanted the space.
Swapping for another car, meant he'd loose the space, and he wants the space, so didn't want another car.. but was loathed to scrap something that he saw as useful, not to him, but to someone!
Jade and Rob wanted to get rid of the FTO, and my Dad asked if I wanted it.. I'm not one to turn down a free car, even if it's something I don't really have much interest in, but I had been looking at FTO's after getting rid of my Celica, as I fancied a "pretty" coupe that was less ruinous and didn't want to find myself in a Corrado or Scirocco.. I'm not massively bothered about the wrong wheel drive stigma, or the performance lack of the non MIVEC cars with the strangle-tronic, but I wouldn't mind something that's not as low as my BMW, that's comfortable, and that I can use to do distance in comfortably. (For those who only know me on here.. I've got an E36 Coupe that's been in the works since December too.. it's nice.. but it's not a "performance" car really).
Car had a "running fault", when it's put into Drive (it's an auto with Tiptronic, like most of these are), it misfires, bogs and makes no power.
Delivered Saturday night to mine, I was on my way out, so didn't get a chance to look, but he she is in daylight.

The car arrived on a trailer at my house, because I had space for a car to sit, flat battery.. I took that out and charged it up.
Don't ask what I'm doing with it, or plans, cos I don't have any, although it's on my insurance and MOT'd, and I'm currently still BMWless, (in for MOT today!), so we'll see how it plays out. Sarah seems to think it's a nice looking car.. I'm still undecided.. it sounds nice, but it feels cheap.. I struggle to "bond" with JDM stuff.. I think I expect less tinny and more padding, spoiled by a diet of Germanic tin.
Anyway, Sunday rolled around, after a night of cards against humanity till 1:30am at a friends, I was a bit tired, so I slept in till 10ish, then watched some SOA.. When I could be bothered, I got out the house and grabbed some tools from the workshop.
Took the fuel filter out some time Sunday, it was cold, and I had to lay across the engine and get my midget hands into the space between the inlet manifold and the bulkhead.. it wasn't as bad as doing a turbo on a 1.8T A3, but it was still awkward.
Drained the fuel filter...
DEELICOUS.. smelled like petrol, looked like something washed off the bottom of sump.
Anyway, after changing that filter out, blowing the lines back, and bunging an old rare earth magnet from a dead computer HDD in the tank I've got most of the rust in the tank addressed, and with a charged battery all seems well.. car starts and drives as it should..
Technically, this is my Dads, but he's told me to have it, for getting the Forester out of his way.. nice of him.. and he's got an MX5 to restore.. so he's busy with that, and fixing his psdeudo fwd Jag..
I'm not sure what to do with it.. I'll change the rims out and get some use from it.

That's pretty much my only dislike of these. Great cars though I would love a free one!
