I bought this car in October last year from a friends dad – he’d had it for years. It was pretty grubby and he was sure it was going to fail its upcoming MOT on brakes. At the time, I was driving an old van for work and wanted something a little nicer for weekends so thought I’d grab it, clean it up, MOT it and use it as a 2nd car. Unfortunately, my van then blew up so I had to replace it. I ended up getting a pretty nice van so this is now surplus to requirements as running 2 cars was pushing it a little!
In my ownership it’s been thoroughly cleaned. The disks and pads have been replaced all round. A replacement copper brake pipe was fitted to the rear calliper. I fitted a couple of decent part worn tyres to the front. I fitted new number plates. I had the drivers seat bolster repaired and replaced both the cables in the front seats so you can now tilt them forward to get in the back. Replaced a couple of bulbs. Went through its MOT a week or so ago and hasn't moved since.
It’s only had 2 previous keepers and my mates dad that I got it from had it since 2006. Unfortunately, he lost the history for it but I’d imagine its been looked after half alright as he had it so long.
It’s only done around 5,000 miles in the last 5 years or so. I've actually only driven it once since I owned it and that was to take it for the MOT last week, a 20 mile round trip, I don’t even think the brake pads are fully bedded in yet! Drives OK but performance felt a little flat – it’s been laid up a while I guess so probably needs a decent run and a service. No untoward knocks or bangs – only problem I noticed was the ’lock out’ on the gear changer for reverse is worn so you have to double check you have 1st, not reverse.
Generally it’s pretty tidy throughout aside from a dink to the boot lid, some chips to the bonnet, a missing mirror cover, cloudy headlights and a couple of fag burns to the seats. Looks like its had a repair/paint to the drivers side rear arch before and this is just starting to come through again….overall its pretty clean and tidy.
I’m desperate to get rid as I’ve just cleaned myself out buying my new van so need some cash back pronto. On that note the asking price is pretty low – I’ve seen these advertised elsewhere for up to £800-£1000.
